I loved him when he was here. He was like having another linebacker on the outside. His ability to tackle was always amazing.

They're basically both still the exact same players they were in Miami when we get rid of the, besides Vontae Davis having that one excellent game a year that makes you think he's gonna reach his potential.

Maybe if Davis had the work ethic, or the kind of killer mentality some of the top corners have, he could be great.

well if they are still the same players then vontae is still the better player..i think he's gotten better though, haven't watched all his games to know for sure but i felt stongly about his game minus gramma when he was here..had no idea he didn't have work ethic, just knew that lb for lb he was as explosive as it gets.

I used to love watching him come flying in and take a receivers hips out. He benched something like 25 reps at the combine. Guy is a physical freak and I hated that trade from the get go. Always thought smith should've been traded and Davis re-signed. Only saving grace is Grimes likely isn't here if Davis is but had we kept Davis and signed Grimes our secondary would be sick.

Davis was one of the very few guys I've had a man crush on before the draft and had hopes that he would fall to miami and miami actually drafted him. Usually the player gets taken a couple picks before or worse falls to us, makes too much sense for us to draft so we draft someone else or trade out like when I begged for us to draft Thomas out of Texas.

Davis was the guy in college who never got any better and made the same mistakes over and over. He is the classic example of the guy getting by on great talent and never working on his game.

As much as I'd like to pile on to the meh coaching for us this year, Kaepernick wouldn't have gotten his chance to shine as soon as he did, had Smith not gotten injured that year. Sadly, there's also the fact of the money we (Ireland) put into those two bums Wheels/Ellerbe.
