I wouldn't jump if Henne were to be the Qb if Penny goes down.

Not so sure about P White though...seriously...no one would have any idea what White as the Starting Qb would look like, he could run 80yds for a TD but pass for like 120 yds..my heart couldn't take that...

Phillip Merling was basically our first round pick last year and started two games. Again, he doesn't need to start to make an impact.

Bill Parcells has nothing to do with this discussion nor does he have anything to do with the coaching of these players.

He also was coming off sports hernia surgery.

Disagree, we took Davis and Smith and resigned JT to make a run this season because Tuna is leaving..

He still didn't start. He was fine this season.

We acquired those three players because we had needs at those positions.

Next season I really see ILB and NT as our two biggest need areas. OLB will be dependent on a lot of factors. We will likely draft a RB high next year too.

The best thing Parcells did was the first two things he did: hire Ireland and Sparano. I look at how far we went last year in their FIRST year, with only 1 draft and FA period, with not all that much talent in so many areas of this team.

Then I look at how they (Ireland gets a LOT of credit here) upgraded the level of talent at so many positions, and I think "OMG what will Sparano and his coaching staff be able to do this year with so much talent?

Screw the schedule, I think we got tough and talented enough this offseason to handle the tougher schedule. I think Joey Porter has EVERY right to claim "the AFC East Championship comes through Miami" this season. Yeah, I know Brady is back and the Pats can be tough. But I think we'll be just as tough, and I would bet money (I don't bet by the way) that Bellicheat has us circled on his calendar as two dates he is NOT looking forward to.

Last year teams came away from playing us saying, wow those guys are strong! This year we will be even stronger, and teams are not going to enjoy playing the Miami Dolphins!

Jeff Ireland will make a place for himself over the years as one of the top 3-4 GM's in the NFL, with or without another year or two of Parcells' tutelage. Ireland is ready, he is going to keep us enjoying the offseason, the draft, FA period, just as much as we enjoy the regular season, for many years to come. And folks, we are gonna have some serious fun!

Vonnie would have been due 1.5 million in a roster bonus.

The amount we may end up paying JT if he reaches his performance clauses.

$1.5 million on top of the $5.75 he was due this season. Jason is getting $1.5 this year tops.

Exactly, that money came from Vonnie being released, and we still saved millions.

We signed JT with "free money" as it were.

The thing with Vonnie is, he had 4 sacks, but he had 2 in one game against the Raiders, 2 sacks in 15 games is not good enough so they cut him, used the money to sign JT.

And I believe the 5.75 mil included his roster bonus.

Right but we're not arguing that. We were arguing how much money each one was paid.

    Maybe.
