The last two drafts are all on him. That's always been my point. I've never said Ireland was great. I said we can't use info from when Parcells was here. last year's draft looks poor, this one looks pretty good.

We're about to find out over the next 2 years, which isn't a copout answer. (reference the following statement by Gil Brandt)

As far as posters assuming Ireland is a "Parcells' guy", they're wrong. (Reference the following statement)

Its not that He has done nothing its that He was given the title of GM with no power of a GM.
The plan was to eventually give him the power to match his title, which was done in 2010 right before the season started. 2011 was the first off season, draft, and season he really had full control and time to execute his power to match his title.
From what i gather from reading the provided facts, his role from the moment He was given the title GM up til He was given the power of that title after the off season and right before the start of the 2010 season, consisted mainly of scouting Canadian football and and College football while the scouting of NFL football was the responsibility of someone else.
The input of Ireland's College and Canadian talent, and someone elses input on NFL talent was given to Parcells who could have thrown both of their input out the window, or used their input to make the decisions Parcells made. Either way Parcell's had the power of the title Ireland was given. All of the facts I have read point to the fact that Ireland's title didn't mean squat until the start of the 2010 season when Parcell's previous decisions were made already. IMO after reading the facts that were provided, I believe it's a fact that any good or bad decision that was made since the start of the 2010 season can be accredited to Jeff Ireland.
So anyone that want's to judge Ireland should only use moves that were made after the start of the 2010 season after the draft and entire off season moves rested on Parcells shoulders.
I have decided to only judge Ireland based on FA moves moves from the start of the 2010 season, contract moves, and anyone other decisions that were made or moves that I think should have been made but weren't made since the start of the 2010 season. And I have decided to fully judge everything since the 2011 off season til now. In all honesty even though the 2010 season can be added 2011 is the first entire year Ireland is entirely responsible for.
With all that being said, taken into consideration what Ireland inherited after having the power of GM there is much more positives about Ireland and few negatives IMO. I can't blame him for the decisions that he made during his drafts and The search for the best available potential franchise QB was a great decision by Ireland. One thing I am pissed off about is Ireland's decision to get rid of the only talent we had at WR without immediately having a "now fix" but he did give us the ability for a future fix and more ammo to get that future fix right. If Ireland had a "now fix" to go with his future potential fix at WR i would be happy with his decisions about the only 2 positions i have mentioned, QB and WR. But as it stands I am happy with his QB decision and pissed about is WR decisions. I would also add everything i said about the WR position and apply it to our secondary (mainly just the CB position because of Vontae trade which has the same exact problems as I mentioned with his WR decicions) which boils down to getting rid of talent at both positions with no immediate fix and only a hope of picking the right future pick. IMO those to negatives made us worse this year with the potential to get better in the future. But the positive of being the first person since Shula to to potentially get a franchise QB the right way with the first time we used a first round pick on a QB since Marino, out-weighs the unecesarry negatives i mentioned.
I may have mentioned 2 negatives and 1 positive but I stand my statement that since Ireland had full control, IMO there are more positives then negaitves. I just don't have the patience or the resources to list all of the positives and negatives. And I believe the positive i mentioned outweighs the 2 negatives i mentioned.
The 2 negatives really boils down to one negative "train of thought" that i believe Ireland has which is: its ok to hurt a current team with the possibility of making it better in the future.
I might be ok with that train of thought as long as a good "now fix" is attempted.
