Jason Taylor was interviewed today on the Adam Carola show and was asked who he thought had the best OL in ther NFL. Taylor said that while the Patriots OL is a solid group and always plays well, he thinks that the Dallas Cowboys OL was the best in the league. Taylor felt that Brady quick release and reads make NE look better than they are. BTW - This is exactly what I'm thinking our quick reads can do for us as well. Although he didnt say specificly, I got the impression he was talking about both the players, such as Flozell Adams...whom Taylor lined up on most the time when we played and the scheme they use. I was excited to think that we now are using that scheme with Sparano and Masser now leading our OL scheme. I'm excited about our season and can you believe the draft is finally less than 2 weeks away! On a side note, I think my wife has finally after 28 years together really begun to understand me! She announced she was going shopping and wanted to know what all I'd want her to pick up for the draft! Boom chicka bow wow!
That is very exciting Mike. Sparano is eager to make his mark on his first NFL team. He's also a former O-lineman himself. A great O-line is the key to a great offense.
This would have meant more if he said it before the entire Dallas squad packed up and moved to Miami.
i do not in any fashion think Taylor is/was influenced by their presence here now. JT has no reason to kiss a@@ and i think this was a genuine statement
JT makes a great point about Brady making the Pats O Line look better with quick reads. Although when you know what the opposing defense is gonna do its easy to make those reads
As Dr Z noted, he was going up against Adams, who schooled a lot of great DE's last year. While Adams is good for at least two penalties a game, when he's not jumping the gun he's really good at stymieing defensive players. I could have put up with 10 yards of penalties instead of 4 sacks a game, but Dallas had their stuff together and resigned him.
I wish we could have signed him and drafted something early other than OT. Especially since he already knows our scheme.
Thanks for the recap! I just wish Jason Taylor could get through an interview without mentioning Tom Brady.
Maybe it's the cynic in me, but am I the only one who thinks this may be JT's way of brown nosing to the new regime? I mean, as far as O-Line units go, I'd put the Colts line up there, Minnesota too, but Dallas kind of surprises me. I appreciate JT's candor, I'm just taking it with a grain of salt.
I agree with you. I would put Colts line up there first. I really would like to see JT traded. I enjoyed all the heart he gave out on the field for us over the years but I think its time for him to go.
We're the Colt's Oline that good though? I know they are good, but I don't remember them being that spectacular. I followed Ugoh a bit early in the year, but didn't after that.
I believe he went down for a injury and missed a majority of the season after that early start. There was another linemen, first time starter, by the first name Charlie I believe. He went down with an injury also. IMO, Ugoh did a job well done.
