that' not true. they were older, yes. but decline is a big overstatement. Every one of the players I listed helped propel their teams into the superbowl - exception being Tony G who only made it to the NFC championship.

I love the Charles Woodson talk, or the Ed reed talk, but I've been advocating signing Woodson because I saw his quickness in his play last year, and most importantly, to mentor and teach my little honey badger that I'm going to draft..What Woodson does on the field, I certainly can see the badger doing, versatility.

Why? Neither are long term answers. Woodson would make perfect sense if Ireland wants to get young at the position b/c Charles would make an outstanding stop gap, affording a rookie FS some time to ease in just as Rashad Jones did. That's an ideal scenario IMO b/c it allows you to get better immediately and in the future.

I certainly wouldn't be comfortable taking any safety at 12.

I know there's a few guys at NFLN who think Miami are going to sign Goldson. For what it's worth.

I think we can backload every contract for the next 10 years and make a run for SB this year. Championship!

I am wary of Goldson because you always overpay for dudes who just played in a Superbowl.

Do you think we could take a WR at 12 even if we sign Wallace? It's something I've been thinking about ever since Hartline re-signed.

Did this linebacker play in Georgia, and are his initials either A.O. or J.J.?

So if I know you well enough that's Lane Johnson, Tavon Austin, Cornellius Carradine, Xavier Rhodes, and who's the linebacker? Jarvis Jones?

Would you rather have had Percy Harvin, at his new salary, than one of these players at 12? I'm curious.

I think just the first round pick would have been sufficient, since our 1st is much higher than Seattle's.

    Or Alec Ogletree.

Personally, I think it'd be better to have Mike Wallace & Tavon Austin than Percy Harvin alone.

I'm big on Patterson too, but with Wallace (if he signs of course), Hartline and Bess already there I don't know if it makes sense to spend a 1st round pick at WR when we have other needs.

I would certainly love Patterson though.

Tavon Austin would be the only WR you could see as a fit if that happened.

That's still not enough weapons. Look around the league, these great offenses are stacked. Hartline and Bess are nowhere near good enough to get me to pass on teaming Wallace up with the best skill position player in the draft. Not to mention Bess's long term future with the team is completely up in the air, and there's a good chance Hartline will only be here for a couple years

Do that and find a way to grab Carridine. Our DL would be sick.

Id also like to see some depth added at LB. We dodged a bullet last year with Dansby and Burnett staying healthy all year. Spitler and Trusnik are ST guys only IMO. Kaddu? I dunno. Seems to me we have no one to step in and for KD and KB without a major drop off. A little insurance couldn't hurt.
