You are spinning in circles on this. Any evaluator worth hiring should know the monetary value of a player. Aponte's job is to structure the contract in a way that is best for the salary cap. Nothing more.

People are operating with an extremely high level of speculation. We need to take these type of twitter comments the same way we take comments and suggestions from fans in this very site, because that is exactly what they are. These people on twitter are doing exactly what we're doing here, speculate.

I mean, supposing there even is a so called structured in this team, why on hell would it be set up to fail? Why can't it be GM is in charge of personnel and scouting, just like in most teams; Makes personnel decisions with input from the HC, just like in most teams; and finally has to run things by the Administrative side of the team in Aponte, just like in most teams.

What is so dysfunctional and disastrous about this structure?

To get a guy like Gamble you would have to give him final say with the understanding that he listen to Aponte's advice on finances, but you'll have to give him veto power. Gamble doesn't strike me like a big ego guy that will overrule Aponte's advice, though.

This is how Ross thinks. He's got people under contract and just because it's not working in their current position within the power structure they must still be good at something and if he's going to be paying their contract anyway he'd like them to be doing what they're good at. I get all that, but Ross wants to give Aponte more power..... and I'm guessing that new power ventures into responsibilities that she may have not yet proven herself in. To me it seems like he either wants to reward her with a promotion or promote her in effort to keep her around. Either way I don't see how an incoming GM would be ecstatic about part of his job going to her. It seems too conflicting to me. Personally I'd care more about my GM search than what Aponte's role will be, and I certainly wouldn't want to be openly talking about giving her more responsibility and power before we even have a new GM in place. To me that creates too much air of volatility.

It really cannot be ignored anymore. Ross's loyalty caused problems finding the best coaching candidates and now his loyalty to Philbin and Aponte may very well prevent the best GM form being hired. The problem created by not firing Ireland in 2011 lives on.

Is this the only organization in the NFL where the fans are talking about the team's accountant vs the GM? I swear you ask any other team's fans in the NFL and they won't even know the name of the person that has the same role as Aponte. I don't even know who was the person who was in her position before her here in Miami. Aponte needs to get the **** out of here.

I thought the problem with the power structure and turn off to some coaches was because of Ireland. I don't think the problem is necessarily with Aponte. I would think or hope that Ross is smart enough to know that he has to do what he can and not turn off a quality GM. I think after his interviews, he may change. I don't know. At this point, I just wouldn't read into things. These reports will probably change on a daily basis.

I agree it was obvious, however they were still considered "candidates" or were "on our radar". I just think fans lay too much credence on that stuff.

In regards to Aponte, I don't think shes interested in being a GM. I think shes interested in being above a GM. She wants to be a czar. I don't think thats going to happen in Miami, because Ross isn't looking for a czar.

We are going to be alright. Ross has got this.

Why have we decided Gaine is now the head scout? The director of college scouting is Chris Grier. The Director of Pro Personnel (Pro Scouting) is Anthony Hunt. Gaine has been the assistant to the GM. Under a new GM, if he stays, he won't have anymore power than he has now. The new GM whomever he may be, will be the one who combines all the information on personnel garnered through those sources under him, and combine it with his own ability to judge talent and make an informed decision on free agency and the draft. If anyone thinks when "new GM" decides he wants to draft "player A" that Aponte is going to overrule him by saying, "no, I want us to draft player B", then I think you are crazy.

Fisher (not Fischer) wanted a share of control on personnel, not total autonomy. Ross said no, Ireland has final say on personnel alone, and it would remain that way.

It really doesn't matter how us fans digest the information. It matters how the league reacts. And if these sources are real - then there are at least some NFL teams who are advising potential applicants to not take the job due to the power structure in Miami. Sure, there may be an agenda. All that matters is the end results. If Miami doesn't get a quality GM then we will have to seriously question Ross's process. But I agree we need to let this play out before reacting. But I don't think anyone here can blame anyone for being concerned given the reports and the history.

Whomever we hire, Ross is gonna say was the best candidate. Those who do not agree, are going to say the actual best candidate did not take the job because of the power structure.

Not concerned. We are getting quality candidates in for interviews. It's the GM of an NFL franchise, there will be a high level of interest.
