Silver lining. Not as concerned as the Jets and Bills should be about their respective QBs.

Its a little early to call their draft pick Rodgers 2.0. Not to say he won't be good, but that is awfully high praise.

We all know Marino loves Cowher.

We could be one season removed from Cowher and Rapeslesberger.

Well, what I read is that Tannehill is expendable once the contract expires, esp. if a new coach comes in next year.

Tannehill has his 'wow' moments. I think every starting QB in the league gives you that from time-to-time. That's why they are starters (unless your name is Shaun Hill).

I think Tannehill lost some real development at the position in college because of playing wideout for a couple of seasons.

He has EVERYTHING you want in a QB: size, nice arm, intellect, good attitude, hot wife. What I do not think he has is that intangible that allows QBs to scan the field quickly, but slowly.....allowing things to develop. And if they do not develop like it's drawn up, adjust! It's like he's in a vacuum out there. Maybe he is "over thinking" things? Am I over thinking this??

I am wary of the change in offense. I think he does well when talking plays at the chalkboard. I think that, when things on the field do not happen the way the play is drawn up, he has a disconnect. What did Bill Walsh say about his conversation with Marino when asked about 'what he sees' out on the field? Marino just threw it to "the open man". I am not sure Tannehill has this je ne sais quoi kind of thing in his DNA.

Closing, I love Tannehill. I want him to succeed. But if I am completely honest to myself, I just feel that he is on a road of "almost there", but never there. If he does not succeed this year, it may be the end of the 'road of hope' for him. He may become an Alex Smith with another team, but he could easily become a Jason Campbell.

We always seem to say that don't we? Right up until he throws his second pick-6.

Brady is Brady he would be good on just about any team,... but I know that Belichick has a history of making his back ups look better than they really are...

Perhaps Marino is here to keep Ross from making WTF decisions. Ireland has been around the league right? He's not that bad at picking players either. And yet when Ross says lets jump on this plane to go talk to Harbaugh when Sparano was still employed did he ever say, you should absolutely NOT do that.

I think you're talking something down the line. For now, he has someone that is a Dolphin for life and has been around the NFL for a long time. His job doesn't depend on performance as much as Philbin's and Hickey's. Wins and Losses won't get him fired so perhaps he'll give an honest opinion

    And oh yeah ticket sales

He's not a coach, and if he was brought in by Ross, he will have nothing to do with coaching players or altering what the current staff has in place or is currently doing. At this point, for Steven Ross to hire someone to intervene in the coaching process would be terrible form as an owner. Unless he was recruited by Joe Philbin for an interim coaching position, I am assuming Ross brought him in. This is an assumption on my part, but I would think Ross has learned a little bit by now what good clubs owners do. They hire football people and let them do the football work.

And Garoppolo deserves every bit of it. What he did in college and the way he's ripped up his first preseason, I think he's going to be a special QB and the best from the 2014 class.

He isn't Jon Kitna yet. Lets wait until he does good as a starter before calling him Rodgers 2.0.

You guys would be wetting yourselves if Garoppolo were a Miami Dolphin, playing as well as he has.

I would be excited, however there is a huge difference between "good in preseason" and "Rodgers 2.0"

I am excited about Fede, however I am not calling him Bruce Smith Jr.

Pretty much. Not to say you don't have a good chance of being right, Clark. But, I'm pretty sure it's not hard to dig up QBs who looked like the second coming in preseason, only to end up JAG or bad in the regular season.

    It could go either way.

I'm most certainly not comfortable with dismissing Tannehill under one coaching staff, especially when it's a Joe Philbin lead coaching staff. That kind of investment(and for that matter, the talent he's shown) demands more time. Go out and get a guy with a proven track record of working with QBs and a different branch offense if it comes down to it.

I think people missed the important part of what Jason Cole said. Marino has a very good life being Dan Marino and isn't interested in putting in the time or effort necessary to be a legitimate front office guy. IMO he was brought in to be a sounding board for Ross. He'll listen with Ross to the options presented by others and help Ross decide on which course makes the most sense.
