He was injured at the time. I recall some were worried he would miss multiple weeks. Maybe he should have because you could tell it affected his play. Playing injured will be necessary if he plans on being a franchise qb so hopefully it was a good learning experience.

Hmm, I thought I was talking about a specifis trait.

Of course if the player is injured, it limits his ability, I don't think I'm explaining this well enough.

Once again, playmaking at any position is an innate trait, it is the ability to improvise after the initial responsibility has been accomplished, so lets say the Qb drops, goes thru his reads, and his sucky receivers can't get separation, as soon as that is realized and pressure is now there, at that moment it's all in the athletes hands, the trait is to recognize that moment, have great Qb athleticism to escape, (maybe more than once during any one play), then the talent of keeping eyes downfield while that athleticism is finding another platform..now, if noone can shake free, he runs for it, if they do, he finds them with a pass..from start to finish, that is the playmaking trait for which I'm talkin about..I think it's very important in today's game, it's something I've been looking for for three years, and it's why I desperately wanted Kaepernik and Wilson, I haven't quite seen that special ability yet in Ryan, I've seen some signs, but usually the trait doesn't require experience, it's done out of innate ability, as in not something that can be taught..I can see Ryan having the ability to get better at it because he does have some instincts on the run, but imo he was nowhere near the level of the other 4..

This is not saying that I think he's going to fail, this is just putting him up against 4 guys that I feel confident will be elite qbs, and seeing where he stands.

I said that the colt game was Ryan's best game, but I'm not sure we saw the same game if y'all don't think Luck was outstanding in the game, I mean like really good, having two passes that were errant is something I can find in any qbs game tape.

Dominating the top seed in the NFC playoffs down the stretch on the road as a rookie is what earned him the 'clutch' tag and media hype. 24/36 for 385yds, 2TDs 1int, 60yds rushing (8/carry) and another TD. Don't think I've seen a rookie light up a team in the playoffs like that before, and in the 4th Q. People saying he has a 'low ceiling' is just asinine to me; he's 24 and made big strides as the season progressed, culminating in a ridiculously good game on a big stage. I get that we think Tanny compares favorably to the winners in his QB class, but give credit where it's due.

I agree, because Wilson might be the best play making Qb in the league, I don't think you can put his ceiling into some sort of context that makes any sense.

He was outstanding. His team came through for him in ways ours didn't for Tannehill. It is all what ifs and could've/should've but my point was that he made a terrible decision that should've been picked on his own 30 with 2 minutes left in a home game they won by 3. I only say this because you said noone could've beaten Luck that day and I don't think that's necessarily true.

He was better and his team deserved the win, but I don't think he was light years better. Stats aren't everything but RT had 2 games with a qbr over 110 last year. Luck had 0. Luck had a better year (playoffs), but I don't think Luck had a once in a lifetime kind of rookie year while Tannehill's was an "ehh he was ok but has to improve this this and this" kind. They were more comparable especially down the stretch when Luck struggled to hit 50% completions. If anything, Wilson was the one with the once in a generation rookie year imo, and Tannehill led the team to beat the Seahawks. It'll be fun to see what happens this year.

I know what you mean, you're explaining what you think just fine.

I don't understand however, how else to explain to you, that what you say you're looking for, happened with Tanny some but often, the receivers didn't get open and his knee was screwed up so he couldn't just create a run.

He is in the TOP 2 in the league in passing under pressure. He has a higher QB rating the longer he holds the ball than any of the four young guys. He was in the BOTTOM 3 of all QBs in having time to throw.

You are somehow simply not making the connection that Tannehill had only 2 competent WRs to throw to and they are on the bottom of the league and his knee limited his rushing ability...not too mention he consistently dealt with 8 in the box because his receiver were so bad. CKap would not have fared much better under those exact same circumstances. RGIII would not have fared much better under those exact same circumstances. Luck would not have fared much better under those exact same circumstances. Wilson would not have fared much better under those exact same circumstances.

The knee is a valid point, that fact that you keep mentioning his sh&&y receivers tells me you don't get what it is I'm talking about..The only thing I need to see to identify if the Qb has the specific talent I'm talking about is defensive pressure.

Ryan did not play very well in the 2nd half, didnt score a TD..couldn't move the ball at the end..he hung in there though against what I thought was an excellent game by The best Qb prospect since Manning, tough competition.

I promise I understand, but the two crappy receivers is important. It limits his options to make plays throwing the ball when things breakdown and it affects the way the defense plays you when stuff breaks down which make sit harder to run.

There is only two plays a QB can make when all hell breaks loose that could be a positive gain...throw it a receiver or run it. When those options are taken from you by your receivers not being open and your knee being injured plus you have less room to run, then there is no play to make DJ.

You basically have one guy with his hands tied behind his back and his shoes tied together in a footrace with 4 other athletes with no hindrances, and you're saying you want the hindered guy to show you the same athleticism as the other 4.

it's actually the stuff that happens in between when pressure breaks the play down and the completion of the play, run or pass..it's the anticipation, the unique scrambling ability, scrambling while keeping vision downfield is a talent all it's own, it's the ability to see backside pressure, and have the qb athleticism to move out of it to find clearer space.

This is why I've been talking about Ryan getting stronger in the legs, little lighter, and overall quicker..

Right but we all the saw the jail breaks when the ball was snapped last year. Those other 4 didn't have that. The last time we saw that kind of oline play was when we put Beck in during the 1-15 year. We know for a fact, that only 3 QBs had less time to throw than Tannehill....you know forget it....let me try this route instead:

I guarantee you (barring injury) Tannehill makes the jump this year. That's how sure I am that is problems were his knee, a poor receiving corp and limited experience.

Not a Pacino fan, eh? lol...

That statement just sounded quasi-military like something Pacino would have said in Scent of Woman, or Nicholson in a Few Good Men... lol...

I agree with you though to a certain extent. "Playmaking ability" still requires a couple+ seconds of time to get the ball off and deliver it to someone who could either hold onto it or make a play. Tannehill averaged 2.4 seconds with the ball in his hands before he had to get rid of it last season. Hard to make chicken salad without even enough time to stir the ****...
