The soft-spoken giant also is eager to jump back into the offseason conditioning program that helped him get ready for the grind of his first full NFL season at left tackle, minus the distractions he dealt with last year.

"Coming into my second year I know what to expect," said Long, who will be working with a new offensive line coach this year in Dave DeGuglielmo. "I know how to do some things differently so I can feel better, even better than I did, and I'm just going to work this offseason on getting into the best shape that I can be. I've talked (with DeGuglielmo) a few times and I'm very excited because he seems like a very high-motor, passionate guy. I'm excited to start OTAs and doing drills with him and see his coaching style and what he does."

Long became the first No. 1 pick since New Orleans Saints running back George Rogers in 1981 to make it to the Pro Bowl back in February

:D Wooo!

He anchored an offensive line that helped veteran quarterback Chad Pennington put up the best passing numbers of his career for a Dolphins team that finished 11-5 and won its first AFC East title since 2000 and was joined in Hawaii by Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown and linebacker Joey Porter.

:D

The speed of opposing defensive ends and pass rushing linebackers was the primary thing he had to adjust to, and by the end of the season he had adapted well enough to earn that Pro Bowl berth.

See! I told you so! ;) :D

I always want to improve on my technique at every part of my game - run blocking, hands, pass protection, everything. I'm never satisfied with how I am," Long said. "So I always want to perfect my technique and I want to have a great offensive line. We have the makings to do that and we have guys that can be a great offensive line and allow us to run the ball, protect Chad (Pennington), and I think that when we get to work everybody's very passionate and excited. I just want all of us to work hard and be a great offensive line in the league

.":D

Long is excited to be able to go through an entire offseason of conditioning, OTAs, mini-camps and eventually training camp with Pennington, Brown, running back Ricky Williams and an offense that returns entirely intact now that right tackle Vernon Carey has been re-signed.

"

We had a very good offense last year and I think we can be even better next year," Long said.

It all starts up front, and with Long leading the way, the Dolphins appear to have a good headstart.

:D You gotta' love the big guy. I'm so psyched that after so long we finally have real solid core of guys along the OL, especially at LT. Wooo! :D

:woot:

go baby go!!!!!!!!

"A man's suffering is similar to the behavior of gas. If a certain quantity of gas is pumped into an empty chamber, it will fill the chamber completely and evenly, no matter how big the chamber. Thus, suffering completely fills the human soul and conscious mind, no matter whether the suffering great or little. Therefore, the "size" of human suffering is absolutely relative." - Viktor Frankl

I think were going to see an even better jake long this year than we did last year. Now that he's had a season to adjust to nfl life, and the speed of the game, and another year getting even bigger and stronger, i think he's just going to keep getting better. Also, i think we're going to see him emerge more as a leader now that he's got one year under his belt, something that he did very well at michigan. Glad we got this guy, no doubt about that.

I also think that vernon carey is gonna be a better player, Carey and Big Jake have become best buddies, the thought of Jake gettin vernon in the gym this year is what iam talking about, i would love to see it play out like iam imagining, the two completely dedicating themselves to each other and the game, trainin like freakin warriors, i like that thought.. to grow and learn in life we must be inspired, Jake wil inspire Vernon to go to the next level.. Look for our two starting tackles in next years probowl.

Just think how fantastic it would be if he continued to play so well he made the Pro-Bowl again and then became a Pro-Bowl regular year after year. :D

Having a franchise LT best thing that can happen to a team.
Besides a franchise QB of course (which we might have in waiting)

If Chad Henne pans out as well as Jake Long then we're in great shape.

That is why I love Big Jake, right there. He not only wants to up his game, but he wants our entire line to become one of the better lines in the League. He WILL be a leader for this OL and probably the team this year and for years to come. There is a reason he was the Captain at Michigan for either 2 or 3 years.

Jake Long... I think I have a man crush on you.

Thank you giovafin for this awesome Sig!
