I swear...if he has longterm damage in that shoulder because those *******s didn't shut him down last year. I was telling anybody who would listen that he needed to get IRed because clearly, we werent going anywhere last year.
Still it's not good news. We need him from day 1. He slipped in the second half last year with his injury we need him healthy
The 'iron man' streak is important to him. He does not want to miss games and plays injured. I wouldn't worry. Jake will be ready for the season. Rehab from that surgery just takes awhile. There's no reason for him to be out there now. It's not indicative of anything else. Last year they put guys on the PUP for failing their conditioning test.
Hmmm.....wonder if it's the shoulder? Back in November he injured it against the Titans. He decided to keep playing with a harness. It was also found, with the dislocation, that he had a torn labrum that would take a total of 3 months to recover. I know there may not be much to it (yet, there might), but man, I don't like hearing this AT ALL.
They did him no favors last year for sure. He played all year with a damaged MCL because of the extraneous time Sparano had him play in the 4th preseason game, and then he played half the year with that torn labrum which as Mari0k says could have done permanent damage. All that for a 7-9 season. Gotta love this regime.
PUP list for Long! Well thats just peachy! Granted he can come off that easily enough, but when the best player on our pathetic team is down for any time at all it just send shivers down my spine!
By the way everyone needs to keep in mind that the PUP list in training camp means he can come off it any time before the season starts. But if there were some kind of worst case scenario where Jake wasn't ready to go for the start of the season, the only way you could put him on the regular season PUP list would be if he was on the training camp PUP list...so this is just a precaution.
lol I love the lack of logic in this thread. "His shoulder must be hurt from when Sparano foolishly kept playing him last year." "Yea, that must be why he's swinging that giant ball around."
Well they thought they were already fighting for their jobs, so they kept Long out there. THAT WAS COMPLETELY SELFISH BY THE WAY. Only thinking of themselves and at the moment, or they would not have done it. They would have had him sit out on IR and get well for next season. That is had they been confident in their own job security. As it turns out, because of their own crappy coaching & player selection we lost those games anyways. Then our idiot owner bungled his coaching change with Harbaugh, so they kept their jobs by default. Now their own selfishness in the moment, may jeopardize their own future again. If Long is out for this season, our offense will have suffered a major blow. Now do you see why many of us on this board have see no real promise until these guys are gone ?
If the coaches bench you, they bench you. You have no say in it. They needed to do what is best for the organization in the long run. Instead they did what was they thought prudent to save themselves at the moment. If they had been more confident in their own job security, this maybe would have never happened.
