Its "triumvirate" NOT "trifecta"

Big Red, I'm 100% with you ... that use of Trifecta has always bothered me too.

 

Nope -- it'll probably be the Daily Double, seeing as that doesn't make sense either.

I realize I should just let this thread die a rather noble death. At the same time I feel like I ought to be fair and point out that the primary complaint by OP was actually referring to the local journalist's use of the term.

 

"Trifecta" is a term coined by Omar Kelly to describe the Parcells team; the reason he went with that was that he considered it "hitting the trifecta" to have such a talented front office on the Dolphins.

It has nothing to do with literal meaning and everything to do with enthusiasm regarding our competent FO, particularly in contrast with the ineptitude there in the past.

 

How about the Troika? You know -- like three dark figures sitting in the bowels of the Kremlin in the dead of night, secretly plotting death and destruction? Fits.

Man, I wish you guys wouldn't pull these old, old threads out...I read the title and said, "Hey, we just discussed this !" Before I read the dates....

I have come to the conclusion that Jeff and Tony now stand on their own. Sure, Bill has input and can trump either or both, but they are their own men, in my book....I no longer refer to the triumvirate, trifecta or troika....
