Half full: Manning is a diva and 1 hit away from retirement and only good for 1-3 years *IF* he has recovered (doubtful). Flynn obviously wasn't the answer or else Philbin would have made it known and we would have made him an offer he couldn't refuse. Duh! Smith sucks and we interviewed him to throw the league off of our original plan to pick up a great value QB and draft our next franchise QB!

Half empty: Couldn't land Manning, Philbin obviously though Flynn was our guy since we brought him in as soon as we suspected we were out of the race for Manning but Flynn was turned off by our FO and felt more at home in SEA. Wanted Smith as our 3rd choice but once Manning decided on DEN we couldn't draw him away from his playoff team. We settled for a value QB because now we are in panic mode and hope to draft someone who can compete or learn behind our two #2's.

Mine is exactly half. We couldn't get what we wanted but will be ok anyway. Not near the playoffs but will have some good wins and some excitement followed by letdown.

Well, the way I see it:

-signed a good Qb
-added a FS the guru types like

Lost:

-starting LDE
-starting SS, who tbh, couldn't cover anyone anymore
-#1 Wr
-#2 sacks

Losing Marshall and Taylor in the big picture is what will hurt us unless they are replaced, as for Manning, he turned down other teams as well, that is how it goes, for those a bit slow on the uptake, this is not the NBA with an elastic salary cap.

To the optimist, the glass is half full. To the pessimist, the glass is half empty. To the engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

Moral of the story, optimists, lower your expectations and we will all be sunshine and roses. Pessimists.....who cares really. LOL. :)

Half full. Like MB's, being a Dolphan, it is most likely partly filled with ****.

I wanted and still want Alex Smith. Garrard was never a "good QB" He had one great season and the rest were mired in mediocrity the highest degree. I'm always an optimist. I don't think our team aside from the QB and WR position needs that much upgrading aside from the offensive line a bit. However right now I have no confidence our glaring holes will be filled and if we trade for Tebow or draft Tannenhill I might gauge my eyes out.

On the draft Quentin Rollins bandwagon.

Based on your definition, I would say my glass in nearly empty in regards to the Dolphins. While you appear willing to settle for a little excitement, a few wins, no playoffs, and an eventual letdown. I see absolutely nothing okay about that scenario. To me, this team and FO office needs to get their act today immediately and start contending for Super Bowl titles or else the owner needs to sell the team to someone who actually knows how to run a professional football team. This new owner should fire Ireland before the ink is dry on the sales contract. If the players now on the team can't do better than just providing a little excitement and a few wins, the entire team needs to be blown up and the new owner and GM should start from scratch again.

When all this takes place, I am sure my glass will be entirely full.

Normally I am 99% of the time half full type philosophy. Right now my Miami Dolphins out-look is that my glass is 100% full of crap.

Nope, I'm with ya bud. By "ok" I mean I don't think we will have a 1 win season. I'm not happy at all. Not getting.g Manning, ok. But to not be able to land Flynn? Embarrassing!

I'm ok, I really didn't want Manning. Flynn I would have taken, but my guess is Philbin sees Flynn on equal terms with Moore.

Garrard if healthy is a good QB, I see this as a prelude to drafting a young QB that will sit a year.

We got Soliari back at a good price, Marshall to push Smith was a good pick up.

The Marshall trade does not bother me, it leaves a hole for sure, but gets rid of a headache.

Mine is half full at this point. If we go through the draft and don't select a qb then I'll be more of a half empty guy.

Asking the wrong question:

The question is, relative to the Dolphins chances of winning a SB, is your glass 1/8 full or 7/8 empty? At that point, it doesn't matter. And that's where Miami is. Even if they go after a QB and land one in the draft, by the time he's ready to compete - the D will need to be rebuilt. (as well as a need for WR's and other older players replaced).

They should either do a complete rebuild - and tell the fans that; in which case they should get as many draft picks as possible.

Or they should get aggressive (which they simply are not).

Playing a mediocre game with a 6-10 team is stupidity gone to seed, imo.

 Sometimes, I feel like that too, but most of the time my glass is half-full. The struggles we have endured are going to make winning the Superbowl all the more sweeter when we do.

Half Empty, which has nothing to do with the QB situation.

I wanted Manning but I wouldn't count that against us. As said, Manning could only go to one team. I was lukewarm on Flynn and I expected Matt Moore starting next year whether we draft a QB or not.

I hate the Marshall deal. Not because he was traded, but we got considerably less compensation than what we gave up to a perfect fit in the Bears and I have to hear about it non-stop on ESPN as the most lopsided trade of the offseason.

I just read a "Dolphins are a joke" column from Adam Schein today, which really hurts since Schein was one of the few who routinely gave a shout out or picked the Dolphins as a wildcard darkhorse before last year.

Half full.

Matt Flynn: The choice to not desperately overpay for a QB whom we and the rest of the league obviously didn't value as much as the fans perceived was a smart move. Flynn commanded nearly a third of what Kolb did last year, and just b/c he's enticing enough to sign to a less significant contract, it doesn't mean you enter a bidding war or pay more than you value him when other quality options are still available. Kudos to Miami for having the restraint here.

Alex Smith: Smith's heart is obviously in San Francisco, period. It could've ended BADLY for Miami to offer a contract Smith couldn't refuse during a period of emotional confliction where shortly after Alex has seller's remorse once those brewing emotions of rejection calm. It's just like any relationship. One argument etc doesn't mean you're splitting up or left hating each other, especially when it's recently been a great relationship. Hence, Smith feeling hurt did NOT mean "I want out", it meant "I love you and wanna stay, so show me some attention and appreciation so I can feel good again. Validate my feelings.". As soon as that happens his heart is back to belonging to the Niners. That is not a player we want to sign a multi year expensive contract to. Kudos to Miami again for not over pursuing here.

Manning: we missed out. So did a lot of teams. I don't think it helps that we play Brady twice, and I don't think the heat and humidity are appealing considering his physical issues.

Bell: Cutting a 34 year old who saves us 4+ million in cap space? This is bad why?

Soliai: resigned him at great value. More important to our defense than Langford; however, we paid less for him as a starter than we would have for Langford as our backup. I call that a win.

Langford: we let a 2012 backup in our new scheme walk who would've cost us $24.0M. The problem is what? It's disturbing how many fans repeatedly ignore financial costs as if we could've re-signed Langford for the same peanuts contract we paid him as a rookie. Mind boggling really.

Marshall: we got 2 3rds for a $9.0M/year guy whom Urlacher fears might miss games this year; meanwhile Houston gets a 4th and swaps 3rds with Philly for stud LB, Ryans. Philbin's direct involvement in one of the most productive offenses in the NFL leaves me not wanting to criticize this move and rather take a wait and see approach b/c it's highly unlikely Philbin wasn't first consulted.
