Is Jason Taylor’s future with the Miami Dolphins? http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sport...sweblog+(Miami+Dolphins+|+Sun-Sentinel+Blogs)
as bad as it looks with wake and anderson penciled in as the starters jt needs to go this team needs some young blood at the OLB position. look for them to address this in the draft like I said all along wake is the only thing we have there that shows any potential and he hasnt even played the position. the reast of the group is garbage i think Tony knows jt won't be returning a) because he is getting too damn old and b) he is going to want more money than the dolphins will be willing to spend
watched all of them thanks i saw a player with diminishing skills that showed up part of the time. mainly early in the season his play then tapered off now he is a year older and you bet he thinks he deserves more money i dont see him in a dolphin uniform this next season
JT seems to have turned into a me first type of guy ever since Zach left. I think that's a big part of why they don't want him back. Theres no denying he can be great when he wants to be and I realize this will be controversial but I don't think he has the best effect on the team anymore. I lost alot of respect for him last year when he was screaming so bad he was spitting at the rooks on the sidelines during the (Pitt? - don't remember) game all the while being pretty much invisible the whole game himself. He seems to only be in it for himself at this point and it's everyone elses fault we can't get it done even though the team had a much better record the year he left. I don't know, I don't dislike JT at all, he was great while he was here, i'll always remember the Zach/JT years togethor that was something special but at the same time I won't be disappointed if they don't resign JT at this point. I would really like to see them resign Zach for a day though so he can retire a Fin.
Well then the problem is, you didn't understand what you were seeing....JT was moved out of necessity, forced to play out of position at this stage in his career. His sacks tapered off because he was used to play the run and often removed on passing downs... And what you seem to miss is the fact that all things considered, he had a pretty decent season. What you also miss is that JT could be an asset to this team as a situational pass rusher, that with signing him, we could then have the freedom to address other positions of need in the draft. It seems you have this penchant for picking players to hate on.....and then calling anyone that disagrees a "player fan". And it's beyond boring at this point...
Jason Taylor can still be an asset to this team for the right price. He's still got the playmaking ability in him and i truely think this will be his last season in the NFL and would love to see it as a dolphin.
I was thinking the exact same thing. Took him all of 9 minutes to boot. Just messin' with ya KP. It's all good bro, even if you are a JT hater.
he is no more than plan B, just like last year ..... unlike last year - he will want a bit more $$$$$ it's a tough call right now - today
I dont think hes going to want more money. I think he wants to stay where his home and family are.... I think if hes used a situational player he still has alot to give. But to ask him to play every down is a recipe for disaster
if some of you folks dont like my take on jason taylor then dont read it we arent going to the SB this season so look for the dolphins to be drafting a guy to develop and moving on. i know the philosophy of win now before everyone jumps the gun but realistically we are still rebuilding the D and this draft would be a great opportunity to get someone in, get some playing time under their belt and move toward the future. jason taylor is not our future.
It's mostly your take on why some of us like JT that we don't like.......calling us "player fans" and such. You don't like us getting personal?......Don't make it personal
yet im called a hater for voicing my opinion on jt that tends to get personal too and it is far from the truth i just care about the future of the team first
It's not your opinion that gets you called a hater bro....it's the added emphasis you put on being so harsh about it. It appears as tho you get off on trying to bash someone you know is popular, for shock value I'll just leave it at that
Well, since I'm the one that used the term hater, please let me just reiterate that I was really just messin' with ya KP. I think if your reread my last post, you'll see that. I honestly did not mean to offend you. If I did, I apologize. Back on topic, I will tell you that I adamantly disagree with you re; whether or not the FO should bring back JT. And, I think the majority of Phins fans would as well. Is he a little long in the tooth? Yes. Is he an every down player anymore? No. But, does he bring strong leadership role, and still have enough left in the tank to be a contributor on this defense? Yes. Now, another question, one you might want to ask is does he impede the development of another younger player? And, to that I say no. I think there will be ample PT for him, Wake, Anderson and a rookie OLB (or two?). Having said all that, if the FO and JT can't come to terms, either because he's demanding more than they think he's worth, and/or he's looking for a multi-year deal (and they don't want to go there), well, then that does put a somewhat different perspective on the matter. If that's the situation, then I could certainly see a case where we cut ties and move on. Regardless, we're all fans of the same team bro. And, you're as entitled to your opinion as the rest of us. Peace.
One year low money like last year....rotation QB hounder....sign him....until a leader steps up on that defense....which is Dansby now IMO...we will see.... Dansby must look at that defense like it his defense.....and will run it that way hopefully.....it would be nice to get a young nice, aggressive take no prisoners captain like Ray Lewis used to be, and for that matter still is...sans the age obviously......
If you look at JT's production vs pay he was probably the best deal in this team. Jt out of position is better than any other player we have at that position. How would you like to see him rushing Henne in a Pats uni.
I don't think the money or his play are the issues preventing them from re-signing him. I think it's just a changing of the guard. Taylor is the oldest vet on the team and the other guys are always going to look at him as a leader of the defense which could interfere with building a cohesive unit to play togethor for the next several years. They probably want to see Dansby step in and be the leader on the field for years to come and having Taylor in there could interfere with that. Too many chefs spoil the soup so to speak.
Well that might have some importance if he's used as an every down player......which at this point in his career is a mistake on their part. As far as interfering, JT gets along with and loves his team mates and they him.......I've seen nothing that would make me think that JT would have a problem sharing some leadership. In fact, if it helps the team, I would think he'd encourage ppl to step up. And not being an every down player, he'd understand that someone needs to be out there leading when he's not.. And as a situational pass rusher this season? Name me somebody available in FA or even the draft, that's available and could just step in and provide us with what we could expect from JT? 2 years for 5 million? If that was the deal it should have already been wrapped up... that's peanuts compared to what they've given away to far lesser talents.
Not saying he would intentionally interfere, it's just a situation that arises when you have more than one person leading. One guy has one idea, the other guy has a different idea, now half the team likes the first guys idea, other half likes the second guys idea. Now the team is divided. It just causes problems even though intentions were good. Again not saying this is the case with JT, I don't think any of us knows, just offering it up as a possible reason for them not re-signing him. I mean we seemed to do better the year he wasn't here and we regressed once he came back, Washington didn't seem very interested in keeping him around either. It's possible there is more to this than we realize because if it was purely based on performance per dollar you would think they would bring him back.
No worries man I knew you were joking its just some of the fans here dont like my stance on taylor but im sticking to it. i threw around the "player fan" statement a little loosely to some of the members here. thats on me
It would be nice for Taylor to retire a phin. I think he has 1 more productive year in him, if anything he is a great veteran to help the younger guys learn what it takes to be a great player.
We need linebackers, and JT did a good job in 2009. We need LEADERS and that's what he is. I don't want to hear $hit about money, especially this year! There is no cap. He will still be a good deal anyway. They better bring him back.
JT as a pass rushing specialist? He could still be very productive. I'm sure he will sign fairly cheap too. Wake still has a lot to learn, and no doubt we will have a least one rookie OLB that JT can teach too. I was okay with the Smiley trade because they built depth first at Guard, but we don't have that at OLB. You had better believe the Pats would be happy to snatch JT up and have him rushing the QB for 12-15 plays a game and mentoring whatever OLB rookies they get in this draft.
Dolphins seem to be driving Jason Taylor away http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolp...ins-seem-to-be-driving-jason-taylor-away.html Nice video
yeah but if armando is leading the charge to bring back taylor then it must happen the guy is whining about the situation and seems to be more worried about jt going to the jets or pats than anything else. that is a horrible reason to re-sign a player. i think i have been right all along on this situation and the dolphins dont want him back .you touched on a changing of the guard and you are right (only you didnt get torched like i did. a little late to the party huh ) i think the team is moving on and see no future with jt and for all we know nolan could have been the one that said he was a bad fit. a litle old a little slow. armando if you are listening which i know you are let the FO handle the football side of things you just stick to what you do best which is absolutely nothing.
With Armando, I've seen where he picks issues to have disagreements with the team just for the publicity- and it works on an emotional level. Usually, when the facts bear themselves out the emotion is misguided. He is very good at stirring the pot.
I still believe we need a veteran passrusher KillaP, I prefer Ogunlye, but JT or recently released Darren Howard would do as well. We have 1 guy, Cam Wake, who can provide a passrush, going into 2010 with Wake and "some rookie" as our passrushing ends is really unwise.
I think we should keep him, he onviously wants to stay here and he could mentor the young guys while being a solid contributor.
If we don't grab JT, that means that we need 2 starter caliber OLBs in the draft, and an FS off the bat, total 100% need cannot live without. Then tack on WR and NT that we really could use. I'd love to see us snag a starting OLB, and a project that could train off of Taylor's lead. I'm not an expert by any means, but it just seems so glaringly obvious that there's a huge problem at the position if Taylor is gone, that I just don't understand what the holdup is
That He is still a force when he's in there, we still need to draft an OLB but JT can still bring it and any team needs more than one leader. He is still cheap for what he brings and I want him to retire a Fin. JMHO
