Is anyone as excited as I am for this to come out? I LOVED the first two installments, and Robert Downey Jr. absolutely is the PERFECT Tony Stark. Can't wait for this to come out.

Very excited. The pictures, and teasers are great so far. Looks like Tony gets beaten down pretty bad in this one, and has to get up and fight! Mandarin will be great, excited about Guy Pearce's role also. Releases may 3rd

Yeah definitely looking forward to this one. The trailers for it look damn good and seems to really focus on the aftermath of The Avengers.

I am excited for thor 2 and CA 2, especially the latter, bringing the winter soldier (bucky) back into the fold.

I'm looking forward to this one as well. It looks to be the best out of the 3. Marvel has gotten it right with the Avengers and how they are bringing all the movies out.

Meanwhile DC/WB can't even get a non-Batman/Superman movie off the ground.

Outside of those 2, DC characters aren't compelling.

    There, I said it.

    I like them in animation.

JLA and Teen Titans were great shows.

In fact, even though I am about a hundred times more of a Marvel fan than a DC, I think DC animation is superior than Marvel animation. That is without even seeing Young Justice, which I understand is a pretty good series.

Not that I don't agree or disagree, DC still should be able to get out a solo film(s) for The Flash and Wonder Woman in the very least. There's really no good excuse why they haven't already yet, they made a crappy Green Lantern film and once that bombed they got cold feet and stopped preproduction in any film not Batman or Superman. I mean Marvel is making solo movies for Guardians of the Galaxy and Antman and have plans in place all the way up to The Avengers 3 right now. Meanwhile besides a Batman reboot that's at least 3 years away and a possible Man of Steel sequel what else is DC/WB doing? With the way comic book/superhero movies are selling nowadays DC should be pumping out at least 1 movie per year. It's just amazing how different those two studios are run.

They had a cash cow in the form of the Harry Potter films that earned them a gazillion dollars, so I can almost understand why they didn't feel the need to take the risks on comics. But now that HP is no more, I really expect them to look towards another series to replace all of the income that stopped flowing after the final HP was made.

They should be able to get a film out of The Flash. But has there ever been a good Wonder Woman show or movie? Ever?

I think the only way to do a good Wonder Woman movie would be to make it unabashedly psychedelic, but not only does that not fit with the tone of Nolan's Batman and Superman, but the Doctor Strange movie is going to do it better anyway.

Oh I get why WB isn't in panic mood to get these comic movies out as they are one of the most successful studios year in and year out, I believe. And unlike Marvel studios, they have other projects that they can work on not just comic films, however they're just leaving big money on the table by not pumping out some of these film franchises.

See I don't get that argument. Was there ever a good Captain America or Thor film that was good before the ones in 2011? The 2003 Hulk movie was bad but I think The Incredible Hulk in 2008, although it didn't do well in the box office, was still a pretty good film. Hell Batman & Robin was one of the worst comic films ever and that franchise was able to recover.

Just because there have been bad movies in the past doesn't mean there can't be a good movie of that character in the future. They just need the right writer and director that's committed to the project ala Nolan or Wheldon.

My point is that I don't think the character translates outside of comic books. She's an Amazon who flies an invisible plane and fights crime with a golden lasso while wearing a star-spangled leotard. The base concept is silly.

The newer stuff downplays a lot of the old S&M undertones. The guy that invented WW was a notorious bondage hound (for those that don't know). Because of that WW was always submissive to one degree or another.

Now she's pretty much the female Superman (including the ability to fly, negating the need for the dumb *** invisible jet) with a personality closer to GI Jane than her old one.

Yeah no more invisible plane, and she is pretty much as strong as superman. And she carries a bad *** sword.

All true. The question then becomes, how is she differentiated from Superman in a film? The only thing I can think of would be to have her star in some 300-like Greek asskicking film, but that's not going to work for DC.

good point. JLA was better than any Marvel animated show. young Justice is getting better. not as good as JLA, but better than the T Titans.

I think you can do some of that in flashbacks, but also play up the fish out of water angle with her in the real world and the fact that she's a woman. I mean with the same surface view, why have Iron Man and Batman and Green Arrow? There's more similarities between them then WW and Supes. You basically could make her as strong as Superman with Batman's attitude plus the willingness to kill aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand she's hot. Done right, that's a movie.

Or they could take a page out of Marvel's success and give her the Thor treatment. They're similar in that they're from old mythological realms, have extraordinary power and have to rectify the way our world works with what they know.........aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnd she's hot.

You could also go with a storyline like the one that is happening now in the new 52 JL comics, where WW and Superman are becoming a couple, in front of the public eye. I think that would open up a whole other can of worms when it comes to the JL, seeing how Supe and WW almost feel like they are above everyone else.

To be fair, a lot of times, Marvel Cartoons were victim of heavy Executive Meddling (I know the 90's Spider-Man series was rife with it)

I think with the right writer and director you can make anything work. There are certain parts of the character you can tweak (like attire for example) to make it work. I definitely think it can work with the right people aboard. But then again I think you can make anything work when it comes to the movies.

Youre kidding right? Go watch the 90's version of Spider Man. I forget what the series was called, and they flubbed the end but the series was money. It was quite a few seasons.

In retrospect the Spider-Man cartoon was pretty crappy. Batman TAS has aged much, much better. The Arkham games are basically a 3D TAS.

Power Girl is who Supergirl grew up to become in a DC alternate universe, yes. She's Superman's cousin and also came to Earth in a rocket ship, so that takes care of your "female Superman" angle. She was retconned as being from Atlantis, not Krypton, so that takes care of your mythological angle, though that was changed back later. And she's most well known for large breasts and a cleavage window, so there's your "and she's hot" angle.

First of all, you sound negative about the cleavage window.....so shame on you.
Secondly, its not been a movie yet, plus WW is willing to kill and is a feminist.

Wonder Woman isn't willing to kill. There was like a 2 year story arc in the comics where an outside influence made her kill someone and she kept complaining about it.

Ruins the ending of TDKR. Doubt it's going to happen.

That's the storyline I was referring to. She killed Maxwell Lord because Superboy Prime punched reality, with the ripples causing "wrong" events to happen. Wonder Woman killed Maxwell Lord, Jason Todd came back to life, etc.

WW does not kill, and it takes something as stupid as the concept of punching reality to make it happen. There goes the last possibly differentiating piece of characterization that a WW movie could be centered around.

I think part of that is that there is so much in that cartoon that you dont understand when you are younger, but that an adult would appreciate.
