Of course he did. There's no denying we didn't 'need' a DE (who can handle NT on passing downs.) But i am 100% certain that Odrick was the highest rated guy on our board. There were many considering Odrick to go as high as 8 or 9 this year so we definitely got a good value for the player. Even if he isn't what this team 'needs'. As much as it will sting some people, i am very positive that Odrick was valued higher than Hughes.
What does THAT mean? I'm not going to speculate(outside of my own head ), am I reading into that to much?
I thought this was a specifically interesting comment from Ireland: Are we going to see someone move to OLB? NT?
I think we could see a rotational kinda DLine maybe. Having a smaller NT ( Starks, Odrick) playing inside ala a J. Ratliff on some downs. I'm still convinced that Merling's best position is SOLB, but thats just my 2 cents.
I think it means this. If he says Odrick is a DT then teams won't think we'll take a DT and we can't bluff anybody. Best not reveal the plans to early so we can maybe trade again if need bee.
the only team we tricked last night was ourselves you move out of the 12th spot in the draft to get a project and the compensation wasn't great either i think we got smoked last night that #40 better be a monster pick
