I would rather sign Gaffney and trade for Jones.
    Stallworth does nothing for me.

I'd totally sign Gaffney... no brainer. He's underrated as well.

Posted in the other thread...but Stallworth shouldn't be in their sights, they should be on the phone with Gaffney as we speak (er...type). He may have hurt his quad, but it doesn't matter, we don't have anything besides Bess anyway.

Watch the Jets, Seahawks or Cowboys get him though.

Danario Alexander also cut. 3 season vet who spent a lot of time hurt but hes also a legit deep threat with upside and a very high per catch average.

Hmmm. I thought that was 'Thesis' 'Antithesis' 'Synthesis.'

Oh, BTW - That lovely young lass in your sig pic - The one in the front - has an absolutely absorbing pair.... of eyes. Nice smile, too. If I were 35 years young, I help her hoist one.

Good God if he could just get healthy... I wanted him so bad coming out.

But it sounds like he can't go. I'd gladly sign him just to IR him for a damned year if we believed his knee would come around.

My guess is that there is no chance we get Wallace.

Namely because flipping Vontae for Wallace would be a brilliant move, and Ireland is incapable of that.

Gaffney is hurt. Has a hip issue according to 98.5 in Boston. Also, Pats may have cut him until he heals and then they plan to re-sign him.

On Mike and Mike this morning, Schefter said that Pittsburg is not trading Wallace (when asked about a Wallace to Miami trade possibility). He didn't address whether Miami had inquired. He was just adamant about what he's hearing out of Pitt.

What about him? Oh yeah, he's that guy who was Ty Webb's college roommate that got expelled for night putting with the daughter of the Dean.

A long time ago in the miserable era of 2005-2007 basketball, Mitch Kupchak was a joke amongst Laker fans. I'm hoping for a similar turnaround for Ireland.

I have a better comparison. A football one.

Ted Thompson's Packers produced the same amount of wins in his first four seasons as a GM as Ireland's first four seasons with us. They had one playoff appearance, too. They did much better in the playoffs, though.

Hopefully, Ireland ends up just as good a GM as Thompson.

Oh that guy. I was thinking of Mitch Comstein, as for who got caught night putting with the college Dean's daughter. Sorry about that. Honest mistake.

Let's worry about him proving he's less of a disaster than Matt Millen before comparing him to the likes of Ted Thompson.

You have no idea at all what you are talking about if you think Ireland is at all comparable to Matt Millen. It's not even close.

In other words, their stance hasn't changed since the beginning of Wallace's refusal to sign his tender. So much for the statements by some.

On the other hand, Dwayne Bowe could be had if we allow Scott Pioli to screw us in a trade.

    You're the best, Desides.

Really, Scott Pioli? The only person who needs to be afraid of Scott Pioli is basically the people who work for him. People wanna talk about bad GM's, this guy has a job basically entirely based on the draft the year prior to him being hired being maybe the best in years.

I guess you missed my sarcasm, specifically the part where I denigrate Pioli for the likelihood that he'll ask for too much for the player in question.

    So, just to clarify:

Sarcasm: Scott Pioli needs to feel like he wins every trade because of his ego.
Not sarcasm: I don't think Bowe will be available for a reasonable price, so we should probably forget about that potential avenue for improving our WR unit.

    Clear?

I probably didn't get it because it doesn't really make any sense.

What trade did Pioli take forever on or ask too much on to get it done?

Remind yourself what Pioli received for Deion Branch in 2006. Now ask yourself if Deion Branch is better or worse than Dwayne Bowe.

I think too many people still operate under the misconception that Pioli was anything more than a glorified cap manager in New England ...

Given how the Patriots talent base has gradually eroded (or, in the case of their secondary, fell off a cliff), I think it's fair to say Pioli did something in NE.

But it's also fair to say that anyone would look competent with Tom Brady headlining their roster.

Great article on James Jones linked by PhinGeneral in Club. Didn't see it in the mains. Suggest hitting the link and reading the whole thing.

    Good stuff, CWB. Thanks man.

I'd love to get Jones for a 4th b/c of Philbin's connection with GB, but if they wanted to rake us for our latter 3rd, I'd be ok with that. Not only is it buying an immediate return but, unlike a rookie, it's buying a player who can contribute from day 1, not to mention it's not likely IMO that a 3rd round receiver will turn out any better than Jones.

Jones was a 3rd rounder, and IMO he performed roughly on par with his 3rd round expectations, so I don't see why a late 3rd or our 4th wouldn't be fair compensation. I'm just hoping GB hooks Philbin up in good faith to establish an "I scratch your back you scratch mine" relationship for the future.

Philbin never attempted to poach any GB asst coaches, so they owe us a scratch already.
As for whether Jones is worth a 3rd, what pct of WRs drafted in the 3rd round turn out as good as Jones? I'd guess 50% max. Maybe you can research the past 5 years of drafts though. ;) Then we can know for sure.

That would make some people like Ireland I think.

Jones for a 4th or even a 3rd would be great. Plus we keep both 2's.
