WADR, that's ridiculous for 2 reasons.

#1. I have said over and over and over and over and over and over that I'm neutral on Ireland. I have said over and over and over and over and over and over that if we don't make the playoffs this coming year he should be fired.
It is so very telling that you and most other Firelanders refuse to read and accept that. It tells me you guys are irrational, quite frankly. I have said it to you a number of times specifically.

#2. I don't like Parcells. I don't like his philosophies. I don't like his ego. He can still find a decent person for a job here and there. I'm vehemently against the Jets, but they have some players I would take.

#1. I know you've stated your neutrality over and over and over again. But that's kind of the point. Someone who is truly neutral on someone doesn't spend so much time defending said person. At the very least, you expect him to succeed or I would think you wouldn't be so strongly against those of us who feel he should have been fired 2 years ago.

#2. IMHO, I've seen nothing from Jeff Ireland to make me believe his philosophies are any different from Parcells. That recent interview is littered with the mention of "prototypical size players". You say I'm irrational, and that's ok, it's your opinion. I think it's irrational for someone who is supposedly neutral on a guy to argue so fiercely against those who are opposed to the person. I think it's irrational to hate the guy who hired and mentored the guy but defend his pupil who has not had a very good track record.

Differences in opinion. Let's talk after 2013 to see where we both stand on Ireland.

None of that is a consensus opinion. Some very knowledgeable people thought Matt Ryan was as much a sure thing as most any of the top QBs in the recent past drafts. QB is a generally always more of a risk pick early than OT is though. Also, regarding Jake, did you forget how about half the forum was arguing he wasn't an NFL left tackle and would have to be moved to the right side to have any success? This argument was made by some who are currently defending the choice of he over Ryan as being the right one. If anyone felt in 2008 that Long was only a right tackle in the NFL, then he wasn't a #1 overall pick in their eyes.

Both Ryan and Long have turned out to be good picks. It's not like we took Dorsey or Gholston.

Ryan was a great pick. Long was a good pick.

Even that is debatable. If we lose him this year then I say yes, it was a failed pick. We no longer have use of that draft pick, and he didn't get us to the Super Bowl. Hell he hasn't even gotten us deep in the playoffs. Deep meaning week 2.

If he resigns at reasonable value and he performs reasonably, then it was the wrong pick but still a decent one.

Look at it this way, top 3 picks in 08:

    -Long
    -Chris Long
    -Matt Ryan

All 3 have made pro bowls, two are 100% going to remain with their team and have bright futures

Which one of those 3 are not like the others?

I have not argued fiercely for Ireland. I have argued fiercely for reason and common sense. Blaming Ireland when we don't what moves were his and what moves weren't is irrational. Blaming him for following Parcells blueprint is irrational. I'm so tired of this bull**** from and the Firelanders. It is ******ed.

He hasn't drafted or acquired a Parcells guy since Fupa left. Just stop. If your argument was strong you wouldn't need to resort to this bull****.

We don't need to wait to 2013. I've already said where I stand, playoffs or bust. That is so goddman simple even your hate agenda addled brain should be able to comprehend it.

Sure it was. Jake Long was considered one the safest picks ever. Matt Ryan was considered the top QB which is as safe as the difference between Luck and Leaf.

No the forum was broken over Jake Long and Chris Long with some who wanted Matt Ryan.
