    Yes, lets see some Gator.

I like that Dallas is gonna start at his natural position..

Id like to stay with Jamar Taylor in the nickel.

Take Trunsik off the field with the 52 defense..yes please..

who do we want for that 5th lineman.?

    Odrick..Wake..Vern..Mitchell..Starks?

Yeh...San Diego avgs 3.1 yds per carry running the ball. If Im Miami..I play Cover 3..or play nickle and dime all the time..similar to what NE did against St Louis in the Super Bowl. Force them to try and beat you running...which they wont. Id use Walt Aikens and move Dion Jordan to LB.

52 means your gonna end up with a DL forced to cover..just like KC did to us.

Im trying to avoid the base D in this game as much as possible. I think the 5-2 is fine as long as Jordan or McCain is on the field with the ability to cover. Actually I would have McCain and Jenkins as the LBs and Jordan on the field also who can play in coverage as well based on their offensive alignment. All I know is if we let them get Gates/Green or Oliver matched up against Trusnik we are going to get eaten alive…and they will actively seek that matchup out if he's on the field.

I actually don't mind the idea of a Walt Aikens in a coverage LB type of role but I don't think they see that.
Note: This is just assuming Misi is out. If Misi can play then I don't mind the base D and 3 LB sets nearly as much.

Miami's been using OV and Wake in coverage in every game this year. And, when you really think about it, both of those guys are the same size as, and even smaller than a few, 3-4 OLBs. I wouldn't try to use them in man-to-man coverage as Coyle did against Kansas City, but I think you can drop them back into short zones and into the flats. That's been successful against Green Bay, Chicago, and Jacksonville when they've done it.

It's not something I'd do every down - you have to pick and choose your spots - but it's been an effective front. Essentially, it's what this team would look like in a 3-4 defense...and I like it. It would provide more opportunities to get Dion Jordan on the field and in favorable matchup situations as opposed to strictly using him in sub-packages.

That being said, the San Diego game was really the first time we got to see Dion Jordan used as a true, man-to-man TE coverage specialist in full. We saw glimpses of it in the New Orleans and first Patriots games last year, but San Diego is really when Coyle used that package and it shut down the Chargers offense a good deal. Wouldn't surprise me if we see this quite a bit Sunday, and truth be told, I think if this formation is effective, it's why Miami will win.
