FinatikStaffOPWord came from Peter King of SI.com on Tuesday morning that Bills guard Richie Incognito is considering retiring before the start of the 2018 season and Incognito shared some of his thoughts with another reporter later in the day.
Incognito spoke to Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News and his comments suggest that he’s leaning pretty far in the direction of retiring. Incognito cited health concerns as the reason.
“I’m done. That’s it. It’s been a long career,” Incognito said. “Went to the doctor. My liver and kidneys are shutting down. The stress is killing me. It’s just about doing what’s right. I just want to be in the Hall of Fame.”
Incognito also sent a tweet to the NFLPA saying he’s done. King’s initial tweet said that Incognito could return at the “right price” after agreeing to a pay cut earlier this year. King followed up with another saying that Incognito is talking to the Bills about revisiting his deal and has until Sunday to change his mind about calling it a career.
If Incognito does retire, he’ll join center Eric Wood as 2017 Bills starters to walk away from the game this offseason. They also traded left tackle Cordy Glenn to the Bengals, although Dion Dawkins got 11 starts as a rookie while Glenn was injured.
Lots of people will tell you what they think about you and what you shouldn't and should do. Not everyone's thoughts are worth consideration. Don't take criticism from anyone who you wouldn't also go to for advice.

KeyFinForum VeteranAlthough he's always been a decent lineman, very few make it into the HOF and he certainly is not part of that elite few. Add in the misconduct off the field, the reputation for being dirty, etc and there's a better chance he ends up in prison than the HOF.
Winning football games at any level comes down to winning in the trenches.

That was my thinking also. He was a good player but I don't think he has Hall of Fame numbers either. When I think of him I don't think "he was a HOF guy" smell test.

Yeah he’s no HOF and his role in bullygate would probably push anyone on the fence away.

LOL, I think Bullygate plays in his favor for a HOF bid. When your fellow teammates run home to mommy because the squad leader is too intense, I think that's a nod in the right direction. =)

DisgustipateSupporterI don't understand how some of you are even briefly entertaining the idea Incognito might be deserving of the HOF. He maxed out at pretty good, and that was only ever for a couple of years.
I don't know that they let him in even if he buys a ticket and promises nicely not to shout the N-word at anyone.

As it stands, Incognito now will be required to return not only the $1 million he received up front as part of his agreement to slash his total compensation by $1.625 million but to pay back, potentially, the $1.15 million in previously-paid signing-bonus money that he was due to actually earn this year.

What price his health?
If his liver and kidneys are shot (PED anyone?) then the money just doesn’t come in to pkay.

It seems as if Incognito and his teammates regularly made racial slurs against each other in jest. And I see nothing wrong with two guys bantering in a friendly manner. Would I call some stranger I just met a name? Any name? No. If a friend of mine and I have a relationship were we bust each other's chops...yes.
He sexually assaulted a woman? I didn't hear about this. When?

DisgustipateSupporterI don't know why people forget over and over that Incognito sexually assaulted a woman and was racist towards other people beyond his teammates:
The police report says Incognito “used his golf club to touch the unnamed victim by rubbing it up against her vagina, then up her stomach, then to her chest. He then used the club to knock a pair of sunglasses off the top of her head. After that, he proceeded to lean up against her buttocks with his private parts as if dancing, saying, ‘Let it rain, let it rain!’ ” Incognito was drinking at the time, according to the victim.
Incognito finished his performance by emptying bottles of water in her face. The victim notified her supervisor of the incident, and the supervisor notified Dolphins security, which advised it would take care of the situation, according to police. The victim maintained that one of the event sponsors or organizers had witnessed the incident, but had done nothing to help. She also said that Nat Moore, a former Dolphins star and a team vice president who was at the tournament, had heard about the incident and apologized for what had taken place.
“(Moore) stated that the incident would be taken care of and handled,” the police report said.
The volunteer told Local 10 that she can’t talk about the incident because she had signed a confidentiality agreement.
The Assistant Trainer was born in Japan and attended university there through 2001, before emigrating to the United States. Martin said that Incognito, Jerry and Pouncey directed racial slurs at the Assistant Trainer, calling him a "Jap," a "Chinaman" and a "chink"; referred to him as a "dirty communist" or a "North Korean"; made demands such as "give me some water you fucking chink"; spoke to him in a phony, mocking Asian accent, including asking for "rubby rubby sucky sucky"; and called his mother a "rub and tug masseuse." Martin also informed us that Incognito and Jerry taunted the Assistant Trainer by saying that they had had sex with his girlfriend.
On December 7, 2012, the anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Incognito, Jerry and Pouncey donned traditional Japanese headbands that featured a rising sun emblem (which the Assistant Trainer had given them) and jokingly threatened to harm the Assistant Trainer physically in retaliation for the Pearl Harbor attack. According to Martin, the Assistant Trainer confided in him that he was upset about the Pearl Harbor comments, finding them derogatory toward his heritage.
