If meant it in a malicious way then I agree with you. I just don't think he did or none of his black teammates and some white teammates wouldve openly supported him. So Im not defending what he said, unless it was chalked up as you said meat head jock talk. Even then im not defending as much as I am saying I don't think that particular message he left deserves as much attention as it gets.

Without context it is certainly not cool or acceptable and really not funny either by any means. But the fact it was "accepted" right or wrong suggests to me that it was a small brick in the bullying wall.

I guess my point is, that comment was like the 6th thing wrong with Richie Incgnito, the groping of the girl for example to me is a much worse thing to do.

Are you saying that you don't get why calling someone a "half-ni**** piece of ****" is a big deal? There's like 200 years of history to explain that. Richard Incognito didn't create that word. That word means something. Locker rooms notoriously allow for some depraved **** under the banner of camaraderie. Hazing, physical and sexual assault, even racism, are often accepted when it's a group norm. Again, if it's not a big deal, go call someone a "half-ni**** piece of ****" and then say you were only joking. If I went around telling your coworkers you were a child molester then said I was joking, is that okay?

Just because something was 'acceptable' in the locker room and approved by other meat headed idiots, doesn't mean society shouldn't have an issue with it. NFL locker rooms have protected child abusers, domestic abusers, drunk drivers, and all manner of scum. They're not the ultimate arbiters of what's right to do or say. I get that to you, those words don't have such a deep context, but as someone who lives while black and understands the history of those things and how racism can disguise itself, I have a big problem with it. James Pouncey defended a convicted murderer, you don't think he'd defend Richard Incognito?

    Oh jeez...

Yes, and a brain surgeon can't possible operate on a tumor unless he's had a tumor, right?

Please stop with the "only black people can be victims of racism" stuff.

Black slave owners also raped their black slaves and still do to this day. Your point?

Dylan Roof, obviously, wasn't "friends" with black people. And he was more crazy than Martin. He's a self-confirmed white supremacist. That's like saying an American spy who infiltrated a Nazi camp during WWII was also a Nazi.

Never said that. Someone who has had sex is more knowledgeable on the topic than a virgin though. Being followed by security guards while shopping is never a fun time. My first experience with that was at 14 years old.

Never said that. I'm saying that someone who has to live with racism is more likely to be able to see it. I find it laughable that I have to make this point considering calling someone a "half-ni**** piece of ****" isn't exactly subtle.

This is the least relevant thing. What does this have to do with the fact that cognitive dissonance exists? Someone can be racist and still be attracted to and have physical relations with someone of the race they hate. This point has nothing to do with the point I made. This tactic is disgusting. Why do you take personal offense to comments about white slave owners? You're not one, you don't need to defend them by pointing out there are ****ty black people. I didn't say white slave owners were representative of white people. You can **** on black slave owners all you want. I don't think being terrible is inherent to any race but you seem to have drawn that conclusion. Stop getting defensive on behalf of slave owners. It's not a good look.

The "Model Minority" is often held up as the acceptable minority among racists. James Pouncey defended a murderer and didn't have to be pro-murder.

Dylann Roof ABSOLUTELY had black friends. Here they are talking about him. Racism is not black and white, seriously. How much time have you spent faced with the complexities and realities of racism? It's not as cut and dry as you seem to believe.

    https://www.bet.com/news/national/2015/06/21/dylann-roof-s-black-friends-he-wasn-t-racist-to-me.html

Here's Dylann Roof's friends saying that he was strongly attracted to black women even in his racism:

The simple fact of the matter is that calling someone a "half-ni**** piece of ****" is a terrible thing to do. Joe Philbin picked human scum to toughen up Martin who is mentally unstable. If you were tasked with toughening Martin up, would it have crossed your mind to call him a "half-ni**** piece of ****", even in jest?
