Yeah, I know American idol is a nerdy-little girl show...but I watch it with my wife.

Anyway, Im watching Idol gives back and its really-actually great. Its very moving and upsetting and many things rolled into one. Its inspiring that some do actually believe we can eliminate world poverty. So, I played my small part. I also checked out One.Org and signed up there. Great causes, great stuff. They are raising a ton of money. The British gov't is giving 200 million in an effort to buy a mosquito net for every single person in need. Someone dies of Malaria there every 3 seconds. That, and Aids is just a devastating killer.

And the show is just very well done. Its touching, and really entertaining to boot.

So I'm curious if anyone else watched, thoughts?

I thought Teri Hatcher sang pretty good. Loved the guy from Heroes(Parkman) on drums during that as well:up:

I actually was disapointed in the show. I expected more energy in most of the performances than was expended. I liked last year's show, where they mixed the elimination part with the charity event, much better.
Part of the reason might have been that most of the performances were done Sunday night, with the telethon-like phone stuff with the remaining contestants was tonight. It seemed disjointed.

I happened to watch bits and pieces of this last night. Flipping back and forth between it and the penguins/sens hockey game. I thought it was alright, some of the stories were pretty touching thats for sure. It is nice to see a show as big as it is with popularity out there doing something good and giving back.

And im not a fan of fergie at all, but i really enjoyed that performance and those pants!

I bet you won't see the judges forking over a few shows worth of salary to whatever cause the show was pushing last night.

Actually, as much as I hate to defend him, Simon Cowell is very big into giving to charities... though I'm sure he is not shoring himself by any means.

I thought the Heart/Fergie performance was incredible... and that's not even taking into account Fergie's outfit.
Did you see the 2 one handed cartwheels she did WHILE singing, and not missing a beat???

In addition, she sounded a lot more like Ann Wilson than I expected, she tore it up! All in all, a great performance, although Simon would have something negative to say.

Did you see Jimmy Kimmel roast Simon? Hilarious!

if american idol wanted to "give back", they could pull themselves off the air permanently.
