Yeah, but when its all over, and you have time to reflect, its all worth it. Elk can be a ROYAL pain to move a foot, much less to drag up hill in the snow. Snow always makes it worse!!
Yeah, we had a make-shift sled and actually had an ATV....trying to pull the Elk with the ATV in ths snow made things worse. We still had to drag the Elk, and kept having to pull the damn ATV out after it burried itself with all the extra weight
I have made sleds and had deer slide dang near to the bottom like a rocket ship on rails. thats when you need a winch heck, hugo killed a bull in New mexico 3 years ago that was a 400 class bull, and when he hooked his quad to the bull and over the rack on his truck, his yamaha grizzly popped a wheelie and darn near flipped over backwards. why did you stop hunting?
As much as anything, cause I moved away from New Mexico Seriously, it just happened about the sametime. Too busy anymore I guess. Also, I grew up in Santa Fe National Forrest and had 4 acres there at one time. Had a Tree-stand on my own land. Thinking I might update my old Oneida Screamin Eagle and get back into it when the girls get a bit older....
That picture looks like something out of a painting Wow I would never expect that from an ugly looking fish, well I said the samething about Tripletail and they are actually pretty good as well.
It is a beautiful place thats for sure heres another off hwy 4 near arnold ca just below one of the places I hunt
Kaibab national forest has some of the best mule deer hunting this side of the moon. archery tags are over the counter and its one of the few places you have a damn good chance at 30" bucks.
What price range are you looking for? I've seen some good models like Rock Island Armory around $500 new and used especially at gun shows. My uncle got his now discontinued version of the Winchester Model 70 and my 21st b-day present of a super dumbed down for California residents Bushmaster XM15-E2S at one.
500 - 600 is about all I can afford, but there are so many different versions and models I haven't had the time or desire to research the qualities of each. I'll check out the Rock Island, though, thanks.
Yea, there's definitely a lot of different versions. Just don't end up with something California legal because then you'll know it'll be a notch above peashooter.
That's why I don't do it Nabes. Anything below 65 and I don't participate. Last time I was in Idaho was Jan of 76. Coldest winter on record at the time. Promised myself I would never put foot on ground that wouldn't sustain the growth of palmetto's.
At this point the Perrine Bridge spans 1500 ft and the canyon is 486 ft deep. It is one of the few places that allow BASE Jumping. It is not unual to be crossing the bridge and see some one jump off with a parachute.
