and that had absolutely, positively, without a doubt, NOTHING to do with Brandon Marshall.

This is true. But let's slander Marshall a little more to make ourselves feel better about a terrible trade.

No, he tried to make peace then admittedly made the situation worse.

It isn't really like this situation is the one thing that makes Brandon Marshall an *******, either.

because the actual numbers do not support that assertion.

Brandon Marshall made VERY good use of his targets this year.

It's good for Marshall, **** for the rest of the offense. Having a guy who you've got to Randy Ratio your offense around is **** for your offense. It was bad for Randy Moss, it's bad for Brandon Marshall, it would be bad for Jerry Rice.

Whoops, look at that. It looks like it's played a role in getting Lovie Smith and Mike Tice fired.

    True Story....

Brandon Marshall was the 2nd most productive WR in the NFL this year.

and only ONE combination of WR's was more productive than him. (Any two of James Jones, Jordy Nelson, and Randall Cobb)

Yeah, he was awesome this year.

Is VD still playing ?? Is he the reason the Colts are in the playoffs ?? I think not... Marshall was so great for the bears that they didn't make the playoffs and got the coach fired ?? No losses for us there....move on...

Yes. Once you're getting beyond 130 or so targets, you're getting to the point where you are over-reliant on one player. The Texans have managed that a bit by being such a good rushing team.

I can respect that. I slightly disagree. IMO, production is production, and all three in question did well with their targets.

BTW, if you don't think that Lovie Smith deserved to be fired....then you didn't see teams put TWO CB's in Bump and run coverage on Marshall inside the 10, and the Bears fail to defeat that. That is part of why I think Marshall is so good. He was all they had in the passing game, and he was still effective in overall numbers, and more importantly, in an efficiency sense.

Vonte's first interception today was a gift wrapped f up by the quarter back by under throwing his receiver that had Vonte eating his dust. He just got lucky he couldn't keep up with the receiver that the ball was under thrown.

As far as the Bears playoff team and Marshall? You do realize the play offs start next Saturday and the Bears have already fired their coach? Marshall is good but would he have put the 2012 Dolphins in the play offs? If so it would have been a one and out. I'm looking forward to this years draft it will be sweet getting 5 picks in the first 100 picks.

Vontae Davis will never be an elite CB. Why people are upset about his annual good game is beyond me.
Its like when Ted Ginn has a decenrtgame once a year and people think we made a mistake by getting rid of him.
Now Marshall on the other hand is a whole another beast.

    BUT BRANDON IZ A CANCER!

But, But Davone Bess and Brian Hartline will make up for the production we lost!

Oh wait, that didnt happen, because two #3s do not equal an alpha WR.

It was a stupid ****ing trade, dumber than trading away Adwale Ogunleye for a third when teams were offering firsts.

I was upset with the Vontae deal at the time but he had such a crap year I'll take the 2nd and deal with it. The Marshall trade was a win for us. The Bears are not a playoff team anymore then we are (check out the matchups next week, theyre playing golf like Miami) and the Colts are a playoff team not because of anything Vontae did. And **** Marshall because he didnt want to be here, hes a cancer and a distraction, and hes one of the three most overrated players in the league. Hes a fantasy football God who does crap in producing actual wins which is why he ends up on consistently mediocre teams. Ireland did GREAT getting someone to take 10M+ in salary and getting 2 3rds. Now if Egnew gets better this offseason and we get a good player with that 3rd rounder this year we fleeced the snot out of the Bears. Marshall is their problem now.

Knox did miss the entire 2012 season. He never said Jeffery was good, he said he missed a good part of the season which is true. He played only ten games.

Must have been Marshall's fault though. The revolving door at the other WR position was probably his fault too. ;)

He wasn't? It doesn't? Their Passing TD's went up by 3, by the way. Without their #2, and #3. Jeffery had a promising start until his injuries.

No, he suffered his injury late 2011.

Nor was Jeffery's start particularly promising. He had marginal production and caught less than 50% of his targets.

Use Google. Shouldn't take you long.

If you find evidence of anything different, tell me what the median IQ is compared to the mean (100).

So they didn't lose him for all of 2012? You're arguing yourself into circles now. You compared their production in 2011 to 2012, and now you move the goalposts talking about they knew they were going to lose him. Bears didn't think they would lose him for the season, hence starting him on PUP instead of IR to begin the year.

Through his first five games before injury Alshon was on pace for 500+ yards and 6 TDs. That's not too shabby for what would have been your rookie #3.

With all of that, Bears increased their Passing TD's by 3. With Brandon Marshall plus a whole bunch of nothings. Ok imagine this, they don't pick up Marshall. They lose Knox. Alshon has the exact same year.

For your position to be valid, you'd have to argue they would have the exact same stats, or similar, without Marshall.

Alshon, Earl Bennett, Devon Hester. Those are your starting WR's. Tell us Brandon had no material effect.

First off, you said intelligence, not scores on an IQ test. Two completely separate concepts.

Plus, that doesn't prove that the distribution is perfect. For your argument to hold water, there can only be 1 person at 100. Everyone else is above and below it.

If you have 5 people exactly at the mean, and everyone else above and below, then your original statement fails. Because 50% of the population is not below the mean.

Mean is set to 100 on IQ tests .. for the US. If other nations took the same test that was jerry rigged to place us at 100, their scores are higher or lower.

You can have 50% of your population sit right at the mean. 25% above, 25% below. The mean is still 100, but only 25% sit below that mean. Crude example, but only used to illustrate.

The only thing "median" about IQ tests are that the sample takers (used to set scores) have their scores jerry rigged as described above. But that's a sample.
