I think the Buffalo/Eagles trade could have helped us

Very true. I was just using him and his position's value as an example.

Eh, I just don't believe in those excuses.

When you're "the best", there is a driving motivator to make you the best. Plenty of players have played a year while under a contract dispute. Plenty of players have missed TC or OTAs and still performed. He didn't play well last year, whether that was due to missing time, being unhappy about being paid or not, you've still got to play--especially when your team gets off to a 5-1 start.

I can't believe we're arguing about a guy being the best and terms like he tanked it or he didn't play hard because he wasn't paid are being associated with that. That IMO is not associated with the best or one of the best.

The facts are that when he wanted to dominate, he did. Hes a young player who made a shift from TE (like Jason Smith in this years draft) who was still improving. He had a bad year, no doubt. There could be many different reasons, some good some not. But the bottom line is the Bills just offloaded a stud in the prime of his career because they didnt want to pay him like a prime LT.
They pretty much have no OL at this point, which sucks for them with the emphasis they are trying to put on scoring and offense with a guy like TO coming in and lookng hard at guys like Pettigrew in the draft.
Peters had a bad year, but anyone who thinks hes a bad player is deluding themselves. Not to mention Buffalo now HAS to hit on these 2 first rounders, something they havent had loads of success with over the past few years.

That's your personal opinion. I agree with it but that doesn't necessarily mean that Jason Peters thinks the same way as we do. He missed off-season activities, came in out of shape a week prior to the regular season and then got injured. He struggled because of all those reasons. If he cared about it, he would have came in shape to off-season activities and acted like a professional, playing out his contract and attempting to get a new one the following year. However, he didn't and that's what has to come into question, not his talent in my opinion. You don't go from a very good blind side protector to a complete scrub in one year, his motivation factor was clearly low last year.

Your correct that its (typically) not associated with top notch players, however it is possible that it is associated with a very good player at his position here.

I think character should be the question with Jason Peters, not the play.

Actually they didn't manage even that. Andre Smith is the likely selection for Buff's 1a and they'll have to pay him six or seven mill a year guaranteed. That's a real slap in the face to Peters and it says something about the Bills' FO when Philly didn't hesitate to give him a contract worth ten mill a year.

Correct, for the most part. It depends on where they select their OT. They could take one at 13, at 28 or possibly later in the draft. I completely agree with you though in terms of not giving Peters a deal that he's worth.

Yeah, count me in, I don't see that it helps us all that greatly. They get another pick, and while it may make someone drop to our reach that we might not have gotten, in the longer run (outside of perhaps this season) it's got to make the Jills better, unless they screw the picks up. They have had pretty successful first rounders of late (save for the Lostman pick). The theory perhaps is that they can take the 28 pick and reach for someone (like they did with the Loserman pick a few years ago) or they can go safe and get the OL they now need. But they should, in theory be a better team for it overall. Imagine the possibilities if we had those two picks they have in the first ??

The issue I have yet to see anyone address is whether there might be some fallout with other Jills players in reaction to how the FO treated him, especially if he returns to Pro Bowl form. I seem to remember that there was some bad blood among several Jests vets and their team's management after they treated Pete Kendall in a similar manner a couple of season's back.
