As a new poster to this forum, I've gotta wonder what you really mean here. Here's my experience so far:

1. I posted that I thought we should keep Bell over Wilson and was called a liar.
2. I posted that I think Henne should be benched in the second have of the game (in retrospect it looks like the coaching staff felt the same way) and was call all kinds of names. When I tried to defend my point of view I was told I was insulting people.

In both cases few people if anyone were big on specifics, but I certainly saw a lot more generic put downs ranging from calling ideas stupid to decreasing the rating of a thread.

So my sum opinion on my first week at thephins.com is not a very friendly place. I find myself wondering that if I do make a sensible, well thought out post that isn't a popular idea, that I just have to take insults or be banned.

Seems like a mob rules mentality to me.

has anyone heard any news on pat white? hope things are well with him....

Yeah, i've been watching the replay and I don't see anything a whole lot different than I see typically in a tackle. It just so happened that it ended up badly today. God speed to pat but this is football, and that sort of thing will happen. I was up in arms with that chambers hit a few years ago but this just seemed like football. Sad though.

I dont care for Pat WHite as a football player.... I think he was a horrible pick BUT I would never mock him for getting hurt while playing football. That is just nuts.

For that matter, I wouldnt wish any player injury.... (except if you play for the Jets, Bills or Pats but that is a whole different story)

I'm new here, too. I wouldn't give up on this forum. The game thread is the virtual equivalent of the reason why I'm skipping the sports bar and going back to getting a dish again. :lol: Anyway, it's not like I've had "cr@p thrown at me" in this forum (On another forum, I received for a reply a picture of poop...literally!)

Taylor did not lead with his helmet. If you watch the replay there was a defender and a blocker in between the two players. They both sort of popped around the obstruction and collided. And Ike Taylor was not leading with the helmet. By nature your head sticks out further (obviously) but he was looking to make the ht with his shoulder.

There are some here that do that to others. Those you have to learn who they are and not engage them. Even if they post stuff to antagonize you you have to leave it alone and move on. It is frustrating at times but there are several guys on here that will respect your opinion as long as you expect theirs and not do that to you, reciprocating is the only requirement. Just be prepared to back up what you think with facts and over time you will fit into the site just fine. It's like that no matter where you go. The core of guys and gals that are here are top notch:up:

The Mods aren't that bad either.......except that old guy in Cali:up:

The fact is to me:

When you lead with the helmet that is dirty, because a player CAN trip and take that blow to the head. You are putting yourself and the other player into a situation where and slip, trip, or whatever can put you in a very dangerous spot. I don't care if he would have hit him in the chest....leading with the helmet has no place in football. Anywhere teh foot lands from head to toe.

I don't know about Taylor, but when you're on the sideline like that its pretty easy to get your shoulder pad out in front of your head. You come in sideways.

Shoulder pad. I was always taught, you rotate your body when making a hit along the sideline like that as to lead with your shoulderpad and not your helmet.

I got in so much trouble the few times I accidently led forwards with my helmet, it was pretty easy never to do it again.

Sorry if this is true, although from reading the thread, no one called you a liar, they disagreed with your perspective, however, as long as you continue to make the effort to back up your thoughts on reasons why, you may be disagreed with, but you shouldnt be attacked. Stick around and keep giving it the effort you seem to be good at.

Exactly, no need to stoop below the proper level of discourse to make your point. Again, since both sides are welcome we will not always agree, but as long as each side backs up their reasoning, the level of discussion will rise.

No one should be attacked for an opinion, the Opinion will be attacked from opposing CRITIQUE but not the POSTER. Should never happen.

Often, if a POSTER is only using emotion, then you will often see an equal emotional response....thats not what we are looking for.:hi5:

Easier sad then done. I would have to disagree. Playing football for a number of years, you lead with your head when you tackle someone....it is the basic fundamentals of football and it is how tackling is taught??? Avoiding head to head contact is what the standard should be....not just a automatic fine because your helmet made contact with his. Hell if you wanted to get technical all linemen lead with their heads when blocking. ever see the other teams paint on their helmets......didn't get there by leading with their rumps!

In the open field, yes. Not along the sideline. Theres a different between breaking down and making a tackle, and lowering your head like that.

Or rather, you dont make yourself into a projectile.

If he doesnt lunge he gets a helmet to the chest. He was getting hit with the helmet regardless, which is my point.

You dont launch yourself helmet first at any part of a players body.
