That's what I meant. I just forgot to add 2010 to '09. Parcells was there scouting both years. see below Sun Sentinel reference, 2009: notice who was sitting in the middle. I'm not sure if that means our '08 #32 pick of Merling falls into the category of Ireland not having the first pick. What's annoying is Parcells actually liked Jimmy Graham but wouldn't prioritize him over a dime a dozen guard b/c he thought that Graham would be there in the 4th round. What's more annoying about it to me is he'd reach for Pat White, Nalbone, and even Hartline but not the rare, freakishly talented TE. I can't assume Ireland would've taken the same "wait and see" approach considering he grabbed a similar but slightly less talented Egnew in the 3rd round and actually traded up for other offensive players he coveted (Lamar Miller, Daniel Thomas, Charles Clay).
Did you click the link and see how large she was? My two Brazilian angels would fit inside her butt cheeks for gawdsake.
I made the same point re: Egnew the other day. Had he and Graham been in the same draft, I think Graham would have been taken first. That's not total hindsight. I remember DJ constantly clamoring for Graham in the weeks leading up to that draft. His skills and bubble checked out I guess, because DJ had a major man crush. I had forgotten Ireland traded up 5 spots to take Clay. He felt the need to jump over 2 Washington picks, Dallas and Tennessee. Not sure it was necessary, but whenever you trade up like that, you have a little extra conviction on the player taken.
Well, if my other twins saw that girl, they'd have crawled back up into my abdomen like turtles into their shells.
Generally speaking, is it possible that Ireland is now "reacting" to past draft mistakes made by Parcells (and himself to an extent) by drafting all these seemingly non-Parcellian players? I guess it's possible, but it's not the first argument I'd drop a quarter into. Regardless, even if it is Ireland reactioningly [just made that word up] altering his draft b/c of '08-'10 mistakes, it's still a good thing b/c it shows he can adapt. Either way it's good IMO. It's a good thing we have our very own resident butt checker-outer [of player glutes]........ b/c that's not a job I want to volunteer for. Not saying there's anything wrong with it; I'd just rather be the resident cheerleader butt checker-outer. to DJphinfan
I want to slow clap this post because this is absolute ownage with nothing but simple logic and common sense. Bravo.
