So, as our humble little team starts to gather players from around the county, my attention has turned to one of our newest FA signings: Boomer Grigsby. It's no secret I knew about Boomer before he came to us (I schooled a couple people in his first days with us) and as the season progresses, he is one of the main guys i'm more and more excited to watch play. You can so obviously see the new revolution of Special Teams that our new staff has gone after, and though I really would like to see Boomer stick to special teams, you may see him as a backup FB this year due to R. Mauia's slipup. He is brute, he is humble, and he is definitely one our key aquisitions this year for Special Teams. Reviewing MANY MANY reports and interviews with Boomer I wanted to share a couple quotes that just struck me. On paving the way for Larry Johnson: Boomer was drafted in Round 5 as pick #138 to KC as a LB but in 2007 they converted him to a FB to help Larry Johnson. And he actually made a good transition starting the last 4 games of the season (he played in 44 regular season games total), but then the Chiefs hired Chan Gailey and Gailey decided he wasn't a good fit. They brought in Oliver Hoyte, and the rest is history. He totaled 49 stops on coverage units over his 3 years period with KC. It doesn't look like Boomer is up for the spotlight or the attention... You can tell he's going to give us what he's got, and he's full of energy and will easily become a fan favorite. I had the pleasure of meeting Boomer on his first trip here to Miami and though he's small...coming in a stout 5'11 250 lbs, he's all muscle and heart. He's here to play, and I think he's going to be one of those players that gets us that extra yard here and there where it's needed. He's going to be that one player who doesn't make superstar plays every game and doesn't get thrown up on shoulders for winning the game. But he will be that one guy that, if given the time and effort, can be a potentially long-lasting improvement for our little team. Anyways, i'll get down off my little soapbox...it's been awhile since I came out with a football thread, and i'm getting so pumped up about this coming season and camps that I thought i'd broaden everyones knowledge about one my newest favorite players. Plus he's hot.
I didn't read this since it had a lot of words in it. I did see the last sentence though, so I assume Finsgirlie is talking about me again...
FODDER!!!!!!!!!!!!! you are hot though. edit: p.s. you could've at least read it.....i work hard for the money.
Nice read on one of our lesser known players. Thanks. With Reagans troubles, we could very well be talking about our new FB here.
Anyone that saw HBO's "hard knocks" last summer has to love him. That guy is just the definition of a football player; hard nosed loves the contact and just high spirited energetic and full of life. He'll definitely be an immediate locker room favorite. BTW anyone know what team is getting featured this year on hard knocks? Anyone who didn't watch that show last year REALLY missed out, it was just great; the perfect build up to the season. It's worth getting HBO for that show alone.
Boomer Grigsby just has a great football name ... especially for a fullback. He was a fan favorite among the Chiefs fans I know up here, they were sad to see him go. Perfect example of a "Parcells Guy" IMO ... Nice little write-up, good work!
Well the world got a good look at Boomer Grisby on HBO's series Hard Knocks and I can tell you I like the guys work ethic and demeanor but I think he is in serious trouble of finding a roster spot. We have a lot of special team warriors and with Reagen mauia and Lex Hilliard at Fullback, Grisby won't find himself as the odd man out.
