I think the way to beat Carolina is....

we are very balanced. Our offense works on balance so you have to make us unbalanced. Out rush numbers are nice but that is largely bc we are committed to running. Stack the box on them. The Carolina O doesn't really open up nice holes to begin with so that leaves little room for RBs. Do that and it makes it a Newton game....NE did that. What hurts NE is they didn't have a pass rush.

defensively, Carolina's biggest weakness is small ball. Quick dump offs. They give opponents those. A vertical pass attack plays right into what they want.

A spy is the easiest job on defense..it's whether he can scheme the other guys around it.

We've seen Jordan playing the middle backer position on certain third downs, I'm not sure what Misi's role is in that formation but I don't see why he can't man his original position in the defense when Jordan spies..

I have a feeling in 3rd and Mid to long...we might see Jordan used in this capacity..as a spy.

I think it's a way to use the #3 pick skillset to your advantage, Cam newton is not as good as athlete as Dion Jordan, sorry..Dion can see it in front if him, protect the bloodzone if he stays in the pocket, and explode at an angle if newton takes off, this is where Jordan flashes unreal range, and that is exactly what is needed to contain this athletic Qb, basically he is the answer to the running Qb..maybe I'm wrong, but if we don't find out because Coyle doesn't see the angle then pissass on him, I'd want him fired.

I'm telling you VT, he played one down at the middle backer position last week, when he saw his move, I've never seen someone cover more ground that explosively then what I saw..

Right because it's not like it was first down or anything...even if he gets tackled on the spot it's 2nd and 8... (It was 1st and 15)

I've yet to see a LB or DE that Newton couldn't get an edge on. Von Miller got him once behind the LOS but, Newton burnt him later in the game.

Newton and Jordan are almost the exact same height, weight, and nearly have identical 40 times. I've seen Newton outrun safety's with 4.3 speed and Run over 6'7 defensive ends. It's not going to be easy for Jordan to bring Newton down unless he is in the pocket and can't escape.

Newton is great at escaping the pocket no question about it, and there isn't much proof to back my (a few of us) idea of spying Newton with Jordan, nor do we even know if our coaches see the same vision for the player as some of us do, however, we've seen him play the rover, elephant, Leo position from the middle of the field, we have about 5 reps from that middle backer position, and he's done some special things out of it, I've watched every rep of this kid, and of course the jury is still out whether or not he has the instincts to play this game at an elite level, but there is one thing I'm totally confident based on what he has shown on a football field, and that is chase and tackle in an explosive manner, I'll reiterate my stance since predraft, the NFL has never seen a player like this..I hope our coaches use the entire skillset to their advantage.

I think this dude Johnson overreacted on his injury, I've rewatched the play several times, there wasn't nearly as much force behind the leg trip as his actions would of suggested, I wouldn't be suprised if he tries to give it a go.

    Panthers fan here.

Miami scares me because you guys have all of the talent to be a playoff team. As a Mike Wallace fantasy owner, I hope he shows out eventually, just not against us. The way to beat the Panthers is with quick underneath passes. The Patriots did this extremely well and ran on us better than I expected. Having said that, trying to run on us plays in our favor by keeping the game in the teens-20s. Not having Charles Johnson could be pretty big but Star and Short should help free Hardy up a bit on the edge.

I feel like some of you guys are underestimating how good Cam has been playing during our streak. There's a calmness about him that I haven't seen since he's been a Panther and it has affected the rest of the team. San Fran, Arizona, Seattle, and Buffalo have all held him reasonably in check, and (no offense), the Miami defense isn't as good as the first three. Having said that, if your DC has been paying attention, he's drawing up blitzes against Byron Bell. That dude has been a revolving door this year.

I don't know if our WRs are finally clicking or if the NE game was an anomaly but all year we have had back breaking drops from Ginn, Lafell, and even Smitty, which has really hurt our offensive flow and Cam's stats. The Cards game could have turned out completely differently if Lafell hadn't dropped a RZ pass that hit him in the chest on 4th down and Smitty hadn't dropped a TD pass that hit him between the numbers on (I believe) consecutive first half drives.

Let's just hope for no injuries on either side. Please beat the Pats and the Jets down the road as their fanbases are two of the worst in the league.

The truth of the matter is that if a couple of Panther fans didn't come in here talking smack, this thread would be mostly full of our fans talking about how we're going to lose and lose badly.

Thank you for not talking smack.

Johnson is tough as nails. Quiet strong type. When you see him rolling around screaming like a little girl in uncontrollable pain.....it is a real injury. He won't play. Risk is way to high to put him out there gimpy.

Against Buffalo he was sacked 6 times for 46 yards.

Against Arizona he was sacked 7 times for 50 yards.

Guess he forgot to wear his Super Man underoo's on those game.

AZ's Washington. He was as zoned in on Cam as you could possibly get....he did a great job. His job that game was Cam....all he did was spy him the entire game. He gets an A+++ for his job. There aren't many who can do it.....but when someone does you gotta give them the respect.

He was on crutches this week and hasn't even been doing walkthrough mental stuff.....

As a Phin fan, you won't have to worry about Johnson. Which is big for Miami. He is our best lineman. When he got leg whipped out of the game our D noticeably got worse.

Do you guys like Philbin? I'm not asking if you think he is good at X's and O's and what not....but do you like him? I

Or a better question? Do you think he came off bad on Hard Knocks?

I like him. Others agree, and some don't. He's not a "rah rah" guy by any means but I think the players like him and I think they play hard for him.

But in the end it all comes down to winning. As long as we win, everyone will love him, and when we lose they want him gone.

Such is life in professional sports.
