Huff to get another chance in Oakland and Other Raider News

Michael Huff is excited and confident now that he has been moved from strong to free safety in Oakland.

Huff better be urgent as well. Huff has proven to be just an average player in two NFL seasons. He rarely stood out and that's not good for a guy who was the No. 7 overall pick two years ago. Oakland took Huff over quarterbacks Matt Leinart and Jay Cutler in the draft despite having a major need at quarterback.

Huff seems to think he can make more plays at free safety. It is time for him to show it. If Huff fails to make an impact at this position as he did at strong safety, it will go down as another busted first-round choice in Oakland.

Safety rips Raiders after his release

In typical Stuart Schweigert fashion, he left Oakland swinging.

Schweigert was known around the NFL as much for his outspoken comments as for his safety play in Oakland. After being cut by the Raiders this week, Schweigert was on the verbal attack against his former club.

He ripped the team for its defensive schemes, and the overall negative atmosphere around the club that has won a league-low 19 games in the past five seasons. What Schweigert said was true but it doesn't help him to say it now. He has a reputation as a big talker and having playing poorly last year, he needs to take his lumps and find a new job. Taking jabs at his old team doesn't help his cause.
