Either you are basing you disdain for his OC abilities on Henning's track record or this one game. Can't be both. Historically he has had a lot of success. You say I am going by that, but you're not. So what are you going by, if not his track record and not one game? A partial track record? How fair is that?

If Long has never played RT how can anyone say he'd be better there? He plays with a left handed stance which is better suited for the left side. You want to knock him as a LT based on one game and the recent preseason, rather than what he did for 18 games last yr? How can that make sense unless it is just a way to cherry pick to support your preconceived prejudices against him? He has a track record of being a solid left tackle and is going to get better. So he got beat by Abe on a couple of plays. Abe gives a lot of good LTs a tough time. It is not like Long gave up a sack to some piker.

Do you rewatch the games and focus on the interior of the OL? Not trying to be a smartass, I hope you know, just asking a legit question. Because it is not the tendency of most viewers to focus on the interior OL during the live broadcast. So the linemen may only jump out at you when a play gets blown up. Someone was run blocking ok against Atlanta because we averaged 4.4 per carry. Watching the games online this yr is not going to allow me to go back and review them like I could do before.

As for Jason Brown, have you watched any Rams games? I wonder how he is doing and how the fans are liking him. They did worse on offense against the Seahawks than we did against Atlanta, though Brown may have played well personally.

Don't know how he played overall, but the ONLY PLAY i saw from that game, was him totally botching the snap, and it went down and to the right.

Henning was vilified by the fans in Carolina, for the same reasons Fin fans are ranting about right now. I think he's well beyond his glory days...

I'd be shocked if he returns as OC next season.

and thats the problem that plagued him throughout training camp, he constantly overthrew his WRs, it should have been corrected by now, he's not ready to play QB at this level, he's still raw.

Jeez, the Panthers were within a few plays of winning the SB with Henning as OC. I guess some fans are gonna blame him for their not winning.

IMO, his offensive system is sound. It comes down to execution by the players. I'm not of the school of thought that being older has caused him to forget how to run an offensive system or that the game passed him by.

I agree he'll likely not be back next yr even if we do well overall. I think if Tony had not called he was planning on retirement anyway. Postponed it because of relationship to Parcells.

I actually think it is. Do you really think this staff is going to move a guy whom they invested millions of dollars to the opposite side when he's rarely played that spot and he's had success on the side they initially drafted him for? Jake Long did struggle against John Abraham but its almost like Abraham's talents are forgotten around the league and on forums. The guy is a legitimate pass rusher and I knew as soon as he knocked Jake Long on his ***, comments would come about how Jake Long is bad at this and is bad at that but the thing is, when we were having success and Long was putting up better numbers than what Orlando Pace put up as a rookie left tackle, no one complained. One game and its time to move Jake Long and find his replacement.

How are they going? We lose one game in which, honestly, could have been significantly different if it wasn't for three plays. Two Fasano fumbles and an overthrow of Ginn and we could have won that game. If we win that game, would you be complaining about Jake Long? I don't want to put words in anyones mouth but this situation has happened before and usually the saying is "he'll get better" or "he'll be fine".

He's fine. In that first half, he was playing the speed rush very well against John Abraham. He struggled some later in the game and everyone flips out, wanting to move him to a new position and finding his replacement.

Sometimes this place is like the zoo and it's why I wonder every day why I come back to this site.

    Who said that it does?

I sometimes wonder if people have incredibly high expectations for players, especially ones that are only in their second NFL season.

Well of course they would be reluctant to do it.........we'd all hate to see it. And I hate to burst your bubble but it could happen if he continues to play like he is.

Sorry but we got out-played in most every aspect of that game...there's deff reason for alarm

He didn't just struggle with Abraham, he struggled period. And NO ONE said "let's go out and replace him right now"......we just mentioned that it could be possible in the future. If anyone is "over-reacting".... it's you

But yet if he has a good game he's heralded as second coming of Christ...

The guy cost us a fortune, we passed on a Franchise QB for him and just a little FYI.....the LT position demands perfection. Especially when you take yours at number 1 overall in the draft

There's no bubble to burst and I don't see it happening. He's our best offensive tackle and you want to move him away from the position that protects our quarterback? Would you like to put Carey back there?

Reason for alarm? Sure. Reason for swapping a left tackle that had a very good season one year ago against a good number of quality pass rushers and had one bad game to start the regular season? No.

Forgive me for misreading your post. It was brought up that it's a possibility that Jake Long could be moved to RT in the future but we're discussing it right now.

I'm over-reacting? That's fine, call it what you wish. But it better not be said that some of you aren't because it's bull****.

    Not quite.

No need for an FYI, I know. And every position demands perfection. Reality is, you're not going to get it every time and if you believe you are, you need to lower your expectations a tad bit.

Also, your franchise quarterback isn't perfect by any means. He throws interceptions. Not a great amount but he does. Should we consider moving him to a different position in the future if he continues to throw interceptions? I realize I'm being a smart *** here but I think this is a bit of a knee-jerk reaction from some.

Well other than re-living his past accomplishments, can you make any kind of argument for keeping him based on what he has done for us? Is his play calling(minus the wildcat) a little too vanilla and predictable?.....I'd say most fans would say yes

Ppl are bringing diff scenarios.........speculating. It would be diff if you were responding to a post or thread where ppl are calling for his head.

If there's any knee jerk reaction it's from those of you that freak out and have to rush in to protect someone every time a poster points out something conceived as negative.

And if you realize that you're being a smartass, why continue?....No one is doing that to you..:)

What do you consider calling for Jake Long's head? Asking to release him? I don't think one would stoop that low. I think looking into replacing a guy in the future who's been pretty damn good at his position so far qualifies for calling his head because things like asking for his release and whatnot would just sound foolish, in my opinion.

Yes, that's exactly it. Nice job hitting it right on the bulls eye.

I figured you'd respond with this.

OK one more time.....we were SPECULATING on what might happen in the future.....what "might" happen. Nothing about that says "calling for his head"

    Thanks, I thought so too:)

Well that's just uncanny, hell even I didn't know I was gonna say it....

ok wait....what am I gonna have for lunch tomorrow?.....:p

    Oh, I get it.
Because he went thru a NFL training camp, he should if hit Ginn right on the numbers, with two defenders being right behind him, of course...
