While we're at the reread portion of this topic, how about you reread what I said about Marshall not being in the pressure spotlight like he was in Miami. Check the second receiver numbers on that team. That team is winning because of defense. Not because of Marshall. Too many times we depended on him to watch him come up short. Heck he dropped more td's last year then he has caught this year and he already at 7. Quit making excuses for him, the guy has tons of talent that I get. But his emo qb takes the focus.

I would have rather given a 2nd to gb for James jones, that guy has skills.

It is important to note that not only did the Dolphins not want Marshall. Marshall did not want to be a Dolphin. He asked for his trade.

lol, now that you've tried to overlook my main point once again lets rehash what you said. So the Bears second Wr is basically 10 others right. Well in this offense don't you think Brian Hartline would be a GREAT option as a number 2? I sure the hell do. Ever since we saw him starting to light it up, he's gone fairly silent since then. Had they not traded Marshall, no team would be able to focus on Hartline or Bess without leaving Marshall one on one. Had they not traded him, we would not be seeing teams stack the box on almost every play. Don't you think it might help the running game by seeing the safeties where you want them instead of where they want to put them? Wouldn't it be nice to not have to keep Fasano back to block those extra bodies they keep throwing at Tannehill. I'd love to see him split the seams of a defense a few times....

Now as for trading Brandon Marshall. Since this is the first time I've seen you comment in a thread about him that I've been involved in, I will now suggest you go way back to the re-reading sections here and I'm sure you will find quite a few posts that have me stating something similar to the fact that I was quite fine with them trading his troublesome act to another team. BUT it seems that the plan is to upgrade the position next season or to hope that the current crop will be just as good, if not better. I'm not fine with that part of the Brandon Marshall trade.

I'm not a fan of Brandon Marshall! I am a fan of having a legit Wr on this team and a trade straight up for James Jones would have been fine by me. I'd have loved it because we'd once again have a threat at least. But his skills are not the same as Marshalls. He is a damned good Wr and more than likely 10 times the better person. Might even be better for a team in the long run but......

Or you could take into account the fact that Luck has thrown 50% more passes than Tannehill, which makes it easier to throw for more yards and TDs. Their TD/INT ratios are essentially the same -- right around 1:1. Their passer ratings are essentially the same too. Reggie Wayne is having a very good year, but one could just as easily talk about how much Brian Hartline is helping Tannehill. Yes, Wayne has more catches for more yards, but again, the Colts have thrown the ball a lot more. If you throw the ball more, the WRs will put up bigger numbers too.

That's the thing about Marshall, he wanted the offense to go thru him. The only problem with that was he was so here and there. He dropped way too many key passes. He is lighting it up in chicago cause he is basically the only passing target. Nobody else on that team has over 20 catches. Yet he has 59. Would he have been good here? He was always good, he just expected the ball all the time. I don't mind that in a WR, as long as on key situations they dont keep dropping the ball like he did. His poor hands in Miami in end zone situations, key drops in other situations, bone headed plays other times that cost us with penalties. Sometimes you have to just move on, we did that. I knew Hartline would be better this year in this offense, but its a different kind of offense. Marshall and his whining would have effected how the QB picks a target. I wanted to keep Marshall the player, but not his head. Sad thing is, thats a package deal. James Jones has 8 TDs, less yards then Marshall. He is 10 times the person and some of those catches are just wow. Marshall is only doing well cause the offense in chicago is focused on keeping him happy. One day that offense looks good, next day it looks like a car wreck. I think our offense would have bumps even with Marshall here, but yes he would help pull coverage back from the line.

I like the guy I really do, glad he is playing well. He does have less focus on him up there with who his QB is. We all know how the media loves to bash Cutler. And with that defense, they can do damage. But yes, I wanted Jones after we moved Marshall. That was the one player I wanted. He showed promise, he showed he wanted to play. Now GB is seeing it, they knew he had it all along though. Hopefully the draft brings us something good.
