Your idea of the salary cap not being an issue is releasing half the team. That is the definition of salary cap issue.
I really dislike the idea of guys playing their asses of for us, being productive, but when it's time to pay them, people act like it's no big deal to lose them. If you don't pay your productive players, productive players aren't going to want to play for you. Our team is not built to lose the few playmakers we have.
If you are a qb, why throw at Howard when whoever Kohou or Apple is covering is running free? Those two were so bad that they made Howard look better than he actually was. If he’s completely healthy, he’s still a decent cover guy, but that hasn’t been the case, outside of a few games, in a couple of years.

Just because the pass defense went down in no way means that Howard is what people try to make him out to be. It just means he was better than the other guys. Lol
Oh I know he is no pro bowler but the other 2 were God awful on the boundary.And Cam Smith was so bad he couldn't even beat out these 2.Kohous qb rating against him was 131. If u can't beat that out I don't know what to say.
A little concerning that Cam couldn’t beat out Apple or Kohou, but he wouldn’t be the first CB to not get much action in their first season. Beatwriters seemed to like him in the pre/offseason.
Bonner probably had as much playing time at end of season and he wasn't even drafted.Look at tindel that linebacker from Georgia same issue. And remember Easy E lit up traing.camp his rookie year.Means nothing.
Tindall did nothing so far not even in practice from what I heard read he seems to be a bust. The vibe towards Cam was totally different. Surtain didn’t see much time his first season either, not saying you should bank on it turning out that way with Cam, but he’s no bust yet. Liked what I saw from Easy E the short time he played, quite a mystery what’s up with him exactly…
It’s not cutting half the team, it’s cutting guys who are being paid way more than their value that you plan to replace with cheaper players. The only real lose is Baker but you can’t pay him over $11M when David Long was clearly superior and only earning $6M.
T Took a year in the 90’s, most ACL’s these days are 9 months. Soccer players are coming back from them quicker than ever and not missing a beat. The fact that Kohou and Apple both graded in the bottom 7 for coverage in the whole league was making X look better than he was. He was getting cooked constantly, I’m betting you can get a FA corner that will give you what he was giving last season without much difficulty.
Tindall may indeed be a bust, there is very little positive news about him, whether it’s camp, preseason or regular season. Easy E is a little bit unlucky - he had a neck injury in college that flared up again. The team put him on the Non Football Injury list, which meant no practice or games for four weeks, plus they cannot be added to roster until week 8, and then the team has 3 weeks to add him back to the roster. League rules dictate that only 2 players can be brought back from the NFI list per season, and he was not (not sure if they already moved 2 or not).
