Now, I know college-to Nfl Head coaches usually don't work out that well. But I think Kirk Ferentz is the PERFECT candidate, and you should at least give him an interview. Now Ferentz is the HEAD COACH AT IOWA.

    Reasons why

1( The O-Line-. Iowa is O-Line university. 10 OF THE BEST STARTING O-LINEMEN in the NFL are from IOWA. Most in the NFL. HE would seriously improve your o-line.Improved o-line, better run game. Better run game, better passing game, which leads to wins.

2( Similiar QB'S- Now IOWA had a QB named CJ Beathard. Who looks just like Tannehill. Doesn't like to scarmble a whole lot,but can when needs too. But since he has such a great o-LINE, he mostly just sits in the pocket. His stats this year. 2,570 yards passing, 15 TDS, 4 INTS, and a 139.6 QB rating.

I highly doubt Kirk Ferentz will leave Iowa for the NFL.

Welcome to the site .He is an excellent coach but personally I hope our next HC has succesful NFL experience. There is a big leaning curve going from College football to the NFL.And havent we had enough of first time HCs and GMs for that matter.

    I know I have.

    Not a terribly bad idea.

I too though, would prefer a coach with NFL experience. I'm ok with trying a long term OC/DC, and really ok with a previous HC. We can't afford someone learning on the job.

I know he was an OL coach in the NFL before, but then he left for Iowa, and he's won a couple big 10 titles, but they've never been a consistent powerhouse team or anything like that. The big turnaround and big season this year is nice to see, and it's probably going to get him some attention somewhere at the NFL level this season, especially when you consider how many coaching openings there is likely to be. I'm not sure he's what this team needs though based on experience at this level. We've got quite the mess on our hands here IMO, we need someone with experience at this level to sort it out I think.

Interesting idea though, not totally opposed, just not exactly what I'm looking for at this point in time.

    And... welcome to the site!

I live in Iowa and many of our fans would not like this. Philbin came from Kirk Ferentz's coaching tree and many of the things that people hated about Philbin would come out with Ferentz. Additionally, his son is on the football team and Kirk is not leaving until he graduates.

How many flat screen tv's would it take to pry him from Iowa; assuming, of course, that by the time his son graduates our currency will be bartered in Vizios...

Yeah, not likely leaving a final 4 school to come to this kind of cluster-you-know-what. Would like it... but doubt it.
