Positive or negative, Peter King's continued career is based wholly on who he knows rather than what he knows. Ask him about coffee or name dropping famous people? Sure. Football? Ehhh.

The important thing is that we are ahead of the jest. I think he might ne onto something with this:

He does do the name dropping this too much. It's pretty funny. There should be an over/under in Vegas just for that.

If Peter King thinks we're the 6th best team in the NFL, then he is obviously an intelligent football mind. He is high on Henne and our excellent corps of receivers.

He affinity for Starbucks coffee notwithstanding, he is a genius.

I really wouldn't take this power ranking to seriously, I mean green bay is the best team in the league? The superbowl champs are the fifth best? And the Phin's 6TH?!?! More surprising the Patriots are ranked 14th and are on the "playoff bubble"
    14. New England. I still don't know who will rush the passer, who the shutdown corner is, who the Mike Vrabel/Rodney Harrison defensive leader is, and if there's enough depth at wide receiver to survive until Wes Welker returns.
Honestly i'm sick of hearing how the Patriots don't have a pass rush. Yes it's not the best but far from the worst. Mayo/Meriweather make for great defensive captains. Welker should be healthy for at least week 4 if not the beginning of the season. Moss/Edelman/Price/Holt/Tate, with the TE corp consisting of Gronk/Hernandez and the aged but still talented Crumpler the receiving corp should hold up.

Noooo if we were ranked top 5 it would be the kiss of death. Really though, this is just an opinion, and the Dolphins have been a highly competitive team the past two seasons, so they are going to be a safe dark horse pick. And the article states how the playoff teams change every year, every year since 2005 there have been 6 or 7 new playoff teams. So you HAVE to pick at least 4 or 5 new teams, and teams like the Dolphins, Falcons, 49ers are going to be those teams.

It is a little high, but I wouldn't worry about this team getting over-conifdent. I doubt any will even see it. Plus, the Dolphins have made a bunch of great moves[Dansby, Marshall, Nolan, Incognito and good draft so far] and with good health this team should be a playoff team, so it's nice to see some respect.

Let's be clear. This man is NOT MEL KIPER. Therefore we can assume he knows something about football. I love the optimism and would love us to be this good which I believe we have the potential to do. Too much of it hinges on the impact of rookies and the development of guys like Wake, Soliai, and Smith for us to be there at this point.

Kiss of nothing worth report. What do power rankings have to do with our team ?? They mean nothing, especially during the offseason. They don't win or lose games for you. King, I'm sure means well, but what does a power ranking really do for us ??

He has his right to think we're the 6th best team, but I think we're only as good as a 3rd place team in the AFCE right now.:wink2:

Interesting. Way higher than i'd rank us. Not that I think were bad, but until we go out on the field and prove it, im not willing to pay much attention to these rankings yet. Afterall, didn't someone else rank us 23rd or something in one last week?

I don't take any of these off-season rankings seriously. How can you when it's only May?? Until the pre-season starts, and teams actually perform on the field, it's a waste of time in my opinion...

Sure, you can post off-season rankings based on FA / the draft, but personally, I prefer waiting until around week 3 of the pre-season before coming to any "accurate" conclusions...

really, we have the pieces to be a very good team THIS year ...

it will all come down to OLB and S play ... and that will take a few games to sort itself out - and to gain some experience. We KNOW Wake can be a rush specialist .... so the real question comes on downs 1 & 2.

IF we get even average play from OLB & S ... we will be a better team than last year ... the offense is a given -- so it does 100% all rest on the defense and 2 positions.

    two keys to the season:
    1) the promise of Chad Henne must come to fruition
    2) got to resolve the FreeSafety dilemma adequately
    need two favorable results

we will contend in 2010
