My reaction to Camarillo trade? Get Vincent Jackson My reaction to the Greg Camarillo trade? I wish the Dolphins would stop dancing around the topic of getting really, really, really good on offense and check into Vincent Jackson. He's available, don't you know? He's about as available as Brandon Marshall was when the Dolphins traded for him. He'll cost a high draft pick, perhaps a second-rounder. He's going to want to get paid. And he's going to serve a three-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. So? Give the Chargers a 2013 second-rounder. Give Jackson a contract just below Brandon Marshall's and one equally as cautious with the guaranteed money. And after three games in 2010, boast the most explosive and most imposing set of pass-catchers in the NFL! Read more: http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolp...-trade-get-vincent-jackson.html#ixzz0xfghkS00 Yeah it's Armando, yeah we already got Brandon Marshall, and yeah it's a salary cap concern. But it's a passing league now, and I could see this happening. Nothing wrong with having two top notch WRs if we can swing it. I wouldn't call it likely, but I also wouldn't call it far fetched.
a 2013 2nd rounder? What team would take a 2013 pick? Not that that's the only hole in your logic but its the part that i can't get past.
Vincent Jackson is a complete a-hole, I want him no where near this team. We are not getting him for a 2nd round pick in 2 years. I also don't want to give him the money he wants. We have a #1, one of the best three in the league, we don't need another one.
To be fair, Brandon Marshall wasn't exactly a saint when we traded for him. However, to his credit he has really turned the corner in becoming a better person on and off the field. You can't say we shouldn't trade for Jackson because he's a headcase. However, we shouldn't trade for Jackson because we don't need him...and we surely don't need to tie up all that money into one position.
I like our WRs, even without Camarillo. If we traded for another one this offseason, I'd be pretty disappointed. Marshall, Hartline and Bess is a great lineup, IMHO. I also really like Marlon Moore. I like his pace on the field. If he doesn't make the team, I'll be surprised. Pat Turner... meh... looks like he's headed for another year on the inactive list, if Wallace doesn't steal his job.
Not to call out the mods, but can we get quotes in threads where the article is not from the OP again? I was about to yell at the OP until I realized it wasn't he that wrote the words...
I thought this was just fanboy speculation. It's actually worse...its Armando speculation. Tomorrow's Armando Article: Peyton Manning for a 2017 2nd and 4th Rounder. I mean his contract is up after this year. We can give him one just under Brandon Marshall's. This is a passing league, DON'T CHA KNO! I hate you so much Armando.
If we could get him for that, I'd do it... It's already going to be a nightmare game planning to go against this offense.......Adding Jackson would fill that #2 WR spot the same way Marshall fills the #1. Never gonna happen but it's fun to dream...
I think Chris Johnson is on the trading block too. Something about a lightly mayoed turkey sandwich and five bucks.
I actually think that Jackson is a bit over-rated. If we had him on this team right now I'd want to be fielding offers. Now, I should mention that there were reports of interest from this F.O. early in the off-season before the Marshall trade happened so their opinion of him may be differ from mine.
He's not in the first tier of WR's but as a #2 and compliment to Marshall, I think he'd be outstanding.
I was about to have the same exact reaction. Not that he would have heard me anyway. If I remember correctly Jim has me on ignore... I would.
The problem with this logic is that Jackson is holding out for a BIGGER contract than Marshall got. It wouldn't be wise to have the two highest paid wide receivers in the NFL on one team. Not a good allocation of resources.
. If you look at teams with two great receivers, more times than not either one or both were drafted by said team. It's rare that a team acquires two top WR's via Free Agency or trade. The reason for that is pretty obvious. The Pats and Jets are the exception, although Moss was only had for a 4th and Holmes for a 5th.
This thread has pushed my casual dislike of Salguero somewhere along the border of "disdain" and "hatred." What fantasy world is he living in where a. Vincent Jackson is actually available in trade, b. Vincent Jackson is available for a 2nd round pick, c. Vincent Jackson would fit on this team, and d. Vincent Jackson's desired contract would fit on our payroll? I realize Armando has been pimping Jackson for months if not years, and considers him the best WR in the NFL, but this is complete ignorance leading to opinion. Vincent Jackson is not available. AJ Smith has not given permission for Jackson's agent to talk to the five teams who've expressed interest in a trade, and AJ Smith initiated the Seattle discussion as a way to put pressure on Jackson to sign--or else. Bookmarking that blog entry as proof that Salguero is a flaming idiot.
I agree, but not at the salary he's seeking. And since I envision us continuing to be a two TE formation team, I don't think he'd be as valuable to us. That's why I'd be fielding offers if he were on the team now.
Hey Mando, This isn't Madden. And we aren't the Jets! This team isn't going to sink $100 million into two risky wide receivers.
I have no idea why I am answering this but, the NFL draft is officially over after the 2011 draft, unless there is a new CBA agreement.
Two huge things working against any trade for VJ: 1) VJ seems to think he's worth more than he is 2) The Chargers seem to think he's worth more than he is
VJ will be coming to Miami via a flying pig, wearing a Dolphins helmet, and flying in front of a blue moon. LOL
