For those who've been following, you may notice a significant change in the total "power" points for some teams. This is due to an important tweak in my formula.

I'm now awarding additional points for Winning and Losing streaks as well as Current Winning and Current Losing streaks.

Rank Points (record) Team - Last week's ranking

    1 28.768 ( 10 - 0 ) Indianapolis Colts - 1
If it wasn't for the Patriots epic failure to go undefeated in 2007, two 10-0 teams threatening to go undefeated and the 1972 Dolphins would be a bigger story. The Colts have only two plus .500 teams left on their schedule 6-4 Denver and Jacksonville.

    2 25.622 ( 10 - 0 ) New Orleans Saints - 2
The Saints finally got off their trend of playing poorly, but good enough to win and delivered a dominant performance against the Bucs. But it was the Bucs, so maybe they haven't.

    3 18.024 ( 9 - 1 ) Minnesota Vikings - 4
The good news for the Vikings is their only loss came against the AFC. If they can go 15-1 and get just one Saints loss to an NFC team, they'll take home field advantage.

    4 14.406 ( 7 - 3 ) San Diego Chargers - 10
The Chargers have surged, they were ranked 20th just 3 weeks ago. But 5 straight wins, including 3 straight wins against current 6-4 teams Giants, Eagles, and Broncos.

    5 12.629 ( 7 - 3 ) Cincinnati Bengals - 3
Choke! The Bengals started off on the wrong foot for their three week gimme stretch against the Raiders, Browns, and Lions. Suddenly the Browns and Lions have reason to believe. After that will be a nice matchup against the 9-1 Vikings.

    6 12.543 ( 6 - 4 ) Denver Broncos - 5
The Broncos have more victories against "good" teams than any other team in the top 10. That is why they squeak ahead of a few 7-3 teams, two of whom they've beaten.

    7 12.432 ( 7 - 3 ) Arizona Cardinals - 6
Don't know why, this team just bores me. Maybe it is Kurt Warner.

    8 10.566 ( 7 - 3 ) Dallas Cowboys - 9
How do they flip flop with New England despite a 7-6 victory against one of the worst teams in the league? Perhaps because they actually have 1 victory this year against a team currently over .500

    9 10.482 ( 7 - 3 ) New England Patriots - 8
The Patriots 7 victories all came against teams currently at .500 or below.

    10 10.154 ( 6 - 4 ) Pittsburgh Steelers - 7
Choke! Part Deux. The Chiefs? The Steelers can and probably will rebound. They have only one game remaining on their schedule against a team over .500.

    11 8.742 ( 6 - 4 ) New York Giants - 16
    12 8.675 ( 6 - 4 ) Green Bay Packers - 14
    13 8.357 ( 6 - 4 ) Philadelphia Eagles - 15
    14 7.883 ( 5 - 5 ) Baltimore Ravens - 11
    15 7.317 ( 6 - 4 ) Jacksonville Jaguars - 17
    16 7.153 ( 5 - 5 ) Miami Dolphins - 19
Woot! The Dolphins crack the top half of the League. Sure they haven't beaten a single team currently at .500 or above. But they'll get their chance in 2 weeks and take over the AFC East. This Thanksgiving, I'm thankful that the once 0-3 Dolphins control their own destiny, and they've finally found their QB of the future.

    17 6.275 ( 5 - 5 ) Atlanta Falcons - 13
    18 6.025 ( 5 - 5 ) Houston Texans - 12
    19 5.679 ( 4 - 6 ) Tennessee Titans - 23
    20 3.170 ( 4 - 6 ) Carolina Panthers - 18
    21 2.665 ( 4 - 6 ) New York Jets - 20
    22 1.763 ( 4 - 6 ) San Francisco 49ers - 21
    23 1.749 ( 3 - 7 ) Kansas City Chiefs - 28
    24 1.527 ( 4 - 6 ) Chicago Bears - 22
    25 1.435 ( 3 - 7 ) Oakland Raiders - 27
    26 -0.007 ( 3 - 7 ) Seattle Seahawks - 24
    27 -0.935 ( 3 - 7 ) Buffalo Bills - 25
    28 -1.555 ( 3 - 7 ) Washington Redskins - 26
    29 -4.068 ( 1 - 9 ) St. Louis Rams - 29
    30 -4.248 ( 2 - 8 ) Detroit Lions - 31
    31 -5.468 ( 1 - 9 ) Tampa Bay Buccaneers - 32
    32 -6.321 ( 1 - 9 ) Cleveland Browns - 30

The formula is so convoluted now that even I don't know right away.

I'd say it is due to 2 Redskins victories coming against current 1-9 teams and the fact that the Bills were able to string back to back victories against 4-6 Jets and Panthers.

They lost to a really bad Cleveland team though, and the Jets..1-6 streak going, after 3-0.

The Redskins also gave 2-8 Detroit their first win of the year. The Redskins have played tough the last 2 weeks. Big upset against Denver and scared a Cowboys team that were on a roll. But they were so bad through the first 8, I have no problems with where they are.
