Considering his salary of $445,000 this year much more of a hold out could have taken his 2008 salary so I guess he had to do it but he should still get paid.
the big question is how do you pay him? as a top flight st return man or a top flight(what he wants) reciever which he has yet to prove he is? i sure wish the commish would/could do something about all these players that sign multi-yr contracts then start whinning half way through because so and so is making more money..you signed the contract buddy you should be a man and see it through.
Theres no way you can pay hester #1 receiver kind of money. If he wants a contract like Bernard Berrian got, he's got rocks in his head. He's proven NOTHING as a WR. Does he deserve a pay increase for his ST performances, for sure. The Bears are insane if they give him #1 WR money, and Hester is equally as stupid for thinking he deserves it. He deserves a new deal, but nothing that huge.
Give him a 5 year deal worth $20 million and call it a deal. May be not worth it but he is their only weapon aside from Nathan Vasher on missed field goal returns.
