Under New Ownership, Are Dolphins Looking to Implode Already?

By Bassett on Sep 29, 2010, 1:39 pm

This might be the best news I’ve heard in a while.

According to friends in contact with Parcells … Parcells said he fears that if he leaves, owner Stephen Ross will hire another top football executive (potentially Carl Peterson) who eventually would hire his own people to replace Ireland and Tony Sparano. Parcells told friends that Ireland and Sparano deserve a chance to build their relationship with Ross and establish more credibility with him, and Parcells believes staying makes that more likely.

I hope this is true.

Like others said, it's old news. And where does Edwards factor in? He isn't mentioned in that article.

its the connection with carl peterson. edwards coached there. its a distant threat. ross would lose the fanbase if he did something that stupid. still he's a business guy not a football guy. those types always have to worry you. so long as we win we dont have to worry about it

Reporter: "Why did you fire Coach Gase?"
Ross: "Because he wants to win now"

I think we'd have to do very, very badly this season to prompt something like that...

Parcells handed full control to GM Ireland. Our coaching staff isn't sitting stagnant, they overhauled the defense after last years failures, and for the most part have gotten better (barring the Henning and ST arguments)

I think Parcells gets a little too much praise for a team's success. I think he did a good job with the Giants, but lets not forget what he did with the Jets/Pats and elsewhere. I think Parcells has had a lot of talent to work with over the years, especially LT with the Giants. I think we can win without Parcells if he threatens to leave. Football is changing and become a much more pass oriented game and I think we could do just fine without Parcells, Henning and other old guys. That's just my two cents.

Honestly, I don't think anything like that will happen. Like it was said, it will lose the fans if that were to happen. Besides, Ross was to attract them not pull them away.

Win, Lose, or Tie, I will be a Dolphins Fan Until I Die:up:

Herm Edwards would suckk as a head coach in Miami. I pray Peterson never steps foot inside the Dolphins organization. Things would be entirely ripped apart and it would be a three year remodeling effort that would fail miserably.

This more than a few weeks old, try several months old. As in, before the draft.

It's just as baseless now as it was then. As if Carl Peterson and Herman Edwards are somehow tied to the hip. He hired him once, in KC.

Now now, He is a Jets fan. He is supposed to be mentally slow.
Despite their win the average IQ of that fanbase is in the negative triple digits.
