If you see Ronnie heading for a 50 yard touchdown will it really be worth it taking a potential tackler out of pursuit to hit a QB that will do one of two things back up off the line of scrimmage to stay out of the play or step out of bounds. I'd love to see Willis chase Pennington out of bounds trying to hit him. If some pro bowl left tackles have not stopped him yet I don't see a tight end doing any better. And I'll take a push if Davis wants to stay in to pass protect all day I'll accept him not being a part of the passing game anytime.

Well after saying it like that no it would not be worth it V.D is one of the best pass/run blockers we have. You don't really have to worry about Davis in the passing game, he has not found his nitch in the passing game all year long. It would be a good week to have a break out game because I here that you guys are not to good at covering TE. would you agree with that? BTW that baby in your avatar is to cute! 100% made it worth it. I've seriously read that same argument on every opposing team message board since the Patriots game and I've never seen anybody employ it yet - just too much risk. I was thrilled to see Davis out of college I am disappointed however that he hasn't made a bigger impact to this point as I really expected him to form into a Antonio Gates caliber tight end. He has made great effort for our run support and pass protection which is very important for the team. He has also shown signs of becoming one of the best TE in the NFL, not only blocking but in recieving. I think he will turn out to be a great TE down the road.
You do know that there is nothing in the rules that say that Chad has to stand there and get hit. He can just step out of bounds, and the rest of your D has to stop Ronnie or Ricky without Willis being near the play. Lately some teams have left Chad uncovered so that they can get more people in on the play. I think they figure that the safety will get over there and punish Chad before he can do much should the ball go to him. As for Davis, we shall see...

The 9ers are going to be punting like theres no tomorrow on sunday. They know they need to be mistake free. Which means they will be too conservative. I expect the 9ers to bite on playaction all day long. Martin and Fasano are gonna have huge days. Im guessing we set up the run with playaction, instead of the other way around. Take that Willis!!!!

Ahhh, I disagree. Vernon Davis was a product of freakish combine numbers. While he might be solid in the blocking game, I could see him being like Bubba Franks--drafted too high without the production. It should be a nice close game this weekend. 49ers offense has come alive with Shaun Hill, but with Gore being out, they don't have a chance in hell of scoring 28 offensive points on our defense. Only way they get that is with the help of some STs and Defensive scores.
Thanks but I can't say I feel like going back. I hope the 49er fans don't think we've received them as poorly as that board has most of the Dolphin fans that have stopped in. I'm glad those of you that decided to log in here have done so and I've enjoyed the conversation but I think I'm going to stay on this side of the fence.
To me specifically nothing, but I really didn't bother posting much over there either. Just the nature of a lot of the posting over there reminds me of FH a bit much. I think it would be way too easy to get into a board war with them and I'm happy to have the good niner fans here instead of some of the others I read at their board.
