Has the Defense ever stepped up to when it mattered most in the past 15 years?

I'm not sure if it comes from the same place as another members vague references to players that "gurus" didn't like or not, but it's pretty much crossed over into that territory.

If you have a player in your top 10 then you don't "hate" him and you don't think he'll bust (unless you think less than 10 players in the entire draft will be any good). Having a player in your top 10 generally means you think he is a very, very good player. That you may not be willing to take him No. 1 overall doesn't mean you "hate" him. And you certainly can't claim to be right about a player busting when you have him as one of the top 10 players in the draft (again, unless you think it is such a horrible draft that less than 10 players will be any good).

It's quite simple really. First, you didn't just say that the team could use another pass rusher. You characterized the players the team currently has as incompetent pass rushers (at the positions they are playing and were drafted to play) and argued that is is easy to find competent pass rushers because they are low hanging fruit. Disagreeing that the guys we have are "incompetent" I pointed out that it is not so easy to find better pass rushers and that many guys hailed as great pass rushers in the draft end up being far less than that and that you should know that based on your experience and record, citing a few examples. You countered by claiming that Glenn Dorsey somehow doesn't count as a pass rusher because he is a DT, even though he would have been a 3-4 DE here and even though both 3-4 DEs and DTs are pass rushers (especially if the topic is complementary pass rushers). You also claimed credit for being right about Vernon Gholston because you said you "hated" him. I pointed out that in 2008 you said you "didn't particularly like" him but still had him in your top 10-15 players in the draft. You then got upset because although I linked to your entire previous post, I didn't actually quote every single word you included in that post. So you created a serious of strawmen arguments about Manny Wright, Calvin Johnson and Matt Millen that had nothign to do with anything I said or have ever said and then directly accused me of lacking ethics, a false and baseless charge for which you could not have any possible support because you don't know me, have never met me and have probably never even met anyone who knows me.

So that's how we got here. But I agree there is no need to belabor any of these points further.
