    Good god any more restrictions!?

Why focus on the appearance of the players? They are grown men already. We all know who is who anyways, we all know Al Harris is the one with the dreads, we know Polamalu is the one with the curly frantic hair.

The league needs to focus on some other rules that actually involve with outcomes of games, hair doesn't do squat in the W and L columns.

I have the feeling the NFLPA will sink this idea before it even gets close to being put into effect. They already have in the CBA a clause that prohibits the Owners from doing anything in regards to hair length. I highly doubt they will be legally able to make any kind of ruling on hair length. They may find a way to just ensure that the players hair is kept under the helmet, but that sounds like just a juvenile point, not worthy of the Rules Commitee's interest. I really think this is just a way for the Owners to gauge NFLPA resistance to actual real changes in the CBA, such as a possible Rookie Payscale?

Frankly I find this offensive being a man who has had long hair before. I guess up next if facial hair and tattoos.

the ONLY way they could try to reason this as a good idea is for the safety of players, with being yanked down by the hair. but whatever, pulling the hair isn't a penalty, and everyone with hair knows it, so if they want to do it they're only putting themselves at risk. the only way i'd get mad is if they allow long hair but penalize tackling by it.

The Players association would never approve of this, If a player wants long hair and wants to risk injuring himself its his fault who cares...

the only way I see this rule getting put in is if it just states that all hair must be up in the helment.

If they carry on like this, next they'll be banning .... oh..erm... is there anything else left? finger nail lenght just in case a lineman takes a swipe towards the QB's arm and gives him a nasty season ending scrath?! :tantrum:

I can understand where they are getting this from probly seeing Troy Polamalu getting pulled down my his hair made them think it was a safty issuse. But it is getting a little crazy I say let the player have as long as hair as they want.

i love that the NFL is worrying about the length of players' hair instead of investigating more into the patriots and the cheating scandal...

That's exactly what this is about. It's a safety issue. Pulling players down by the hair can result in concussions and neck issues and the NFL won't deal with either.

This method is far more desirable than making it a penalty to pull someone's hair. If you made it a penalty to grab someone's hair, then players could grow their hair as long as humanly possible and then whoever is trying to tackle them, instead of worrying about tackling them like they would any other player they have to try and find a spot on their body that isn't coated with hair so that they don't accidentally grab the hair and incur a penalty.

This is a good rule. It needed to be put into effect.

How come they only worry about Palomalu? When ricky had his yanked they made a rule saying it was A-OKAY! Playing favorites are they? Where's ricky's parents??? Defend your boy.
