I agree with it not precluding the Phins from taking a hard look. I loved how JJ used to fill spots. If the guy was better then the last guy in the position, then sign him. You don't always have to sign a starter. If a signee turns into a starter, then great. That's a bonus. IF Stallworth is better then the last guy on the roster at WR, then it's a team upgrade.

I would also consider team chemistry and the other attributes. But the bottom line would be can this guy help us win more games then player X.

If he hadn't killed the guy in Miami, maybe.......I would think Miami is last on his list. As it should be..

I don't think the fact that he killed the man in Miami is going to keep him from not coming here if offered.

Seeing the piece on Plaxico Burress this weekend brings the questions of , when may he be available , and would Miami be interested?

I think he is or was the type of receiver thad would greatly aid Miami , and the cost would be minimal , it could be very incentive laden.

Anyone have any idea when he may be free to play again?

I would hope if the Dolphins have interest they would ask the family of the deceased man. I mean its those folks who would suffer reading his name in the paper all the time. Just My Opinion tho

The only reason I wouldn't want Stallworth is because there really isn't room for him...

I hope he catches on somewhere, he's not a bad guy... Just made one bad decision that has driven many people to hate and judge him. It's not like he pulled a gun on someone and shot him, it was an accident. These things happens..

Setting his crime aside (that was settled in a court of law). His career numbers are pretty darned good. As good or better than anything we have seen in Miami in a while. For me it will all come down to how much will he cost.

Off topic...JJ's add "I go long, and so can you":huh1:

On topic...He did his time and paid his fine. Ray Lewis was in a worse spot and he still plays and plays well. Those guys died because they were murdered. Dante hit somebody with a car on accident. If I remember correctly...I don't think it was a malicious act.

pfft who gives a damn what the family thinks really
they took a big settlement from stallworth which kept him from serving a big jail sentence
they were bought off heavily for their family member's death
would you have done that :wink2:
suffering reading his name in the paper..... please.

btw no thanks on stallworthless LOL

You really went through the effort of putting together an actual, honest to goodness graphic but didn't think to you know, compare them at the same points in their career? Really? You wanna do that, and then maybe come up with an explaination of the significance between the what, 200 more career yards he'd have on Ginn?

Stallworth is a little bit bigger, but he clearly doesn't play like it.

Um, no. First of all he's nothing close to a #1 receiver. He'd be another 2/3 to go along with the other three or four we already have, plus he's got a ton of baggage that none of those guys have to go along with it. I'll pass on Donte Stallworth with flying colors. No interest whatsoever, IMO.

Not a 200 yard difference a 72 yard difference. But that's just mirage. In the same time Donte had almost twice as many TDs and averaged 2 yards more per reception.

But as already stated they are twins. :pointlol:

Does he run out of bounds when someones shadow gets close?

To me it's this: Is he better then the 5th WR we currently have? I would like to have a repented and mature Plax too.

I'm with ya bro. He's not only clearly better than our 5th WR he's currently better than our 1st. He can be signed for nothing as the Browns have Cut him, thus freeing us up to use draft picks on other areas of need.

You uh, using a different system of mathematics than the rest of us?

Ginn's career receiving yards is 1664.

Stallworth's receiving yards were 1846 through three years.

Subtracting the two gets you...What now?

I don't know if a simple eye roll smiley works here. Is there one of a guy pantomiming a jerking off motion?

But hey, good job on the wholly inappropriate condescension.

Yeah... I'd like to get a player, but lets not sell out the city for a player.

He f'd up, and deserves a chance to rebuild his reputation. But if they family has not forgiven him yet, and aren't willing to accept him as a Dolphin, he has absolutely no place on this team and in this city. I want a SuperBowl, but I don't think it's right to force that family to root for the man who killed their father/husband, if they aren't ready to forgive him for his mistake, and are still angry.

Bad Press is not worth this upgrade. Now if Manning ran over someone, and was on the market, this would be a different story (KIDDING of course... but seriously...)

My mistake I used Donte's last three years so my bad. However Using his first three seasons the differences are even more in my favor. Donte's average per reception is even higher at 15.6 Yards per reception. Now compare that to Ginns 12.8 Yards per reception. The Touchdown difference isn't even close in the same in that time span 16 for Donte and 5 For Ginn.

Donte bigger and has a much better skill set. I understand the baggage he brings and I'm not even sure I want to see that but when we just compare their stats its not even close.

As for jerking off comment, I find it a bit uncalled but for.

In all honesty i think there are better options than stallworth and im not in favor of signing him. However, im not exactly opposed to it. He's certainly more of a threat than ted ginn.

Here are their stats based on their first three seasons in the NFL:

    Stallworth:
    125 rec 1846 yrds 16 TDs with a long of 76yrds and 30 rec 20+ yrds

    Ted Ginn Jr.:
    128 rec 1664 yrds 5 TDs with a long of 64 yrds and 15 rec 20+ yrds

To me, stallworth is clearly a better reciever....that doesnt mean he's the guy for us however. Also, its not the 200 yards more that he has on Ginn but more so the 11 more TDs and 15 more 'big plays'. It really makes a difference.

eh, we're not going to sign him. He brings nothing to this team we don't already have. Ginn can do everything he can do. But just like Stallworth, ginn is a #2 at best.

I just don't think it's necessary to cater to someone like that. The case has been settled, it's time to move on. People lose friends and family, it's just life...

I can understand the hate towards guys like Mike Vick who did their mistakes repeatedly and intentionally.. But Stallworth has always been a stand up guy and definitely didn't do what he did intentionally.

I don't think there's a place for him in Miami (because we're better off just hoping for Ginn to turn into something), but I do hope he finds a home and succeeds.
