Can the infamous “Tuna” turn around a franchise whose record over the past two seasons was 7 wins and 25 losses? Possessing the first overall pick in this year’s draft and the top selection in the subsequent rounds, the Dolphins had to make a statement they are heading in the right direction. Did they?

this report came out 5-5-08 by TFY Draft. I don't know if there late or took there time with it....

Meh, overly critical/negative in my book. No matter which selection they have a problem with them, or the team in general. Not bpa (not always the draft stategy employed), not guaranteed success (no one is, duh...), etc. Whatever.

    Sounds like a Jests fan.

I disagree. Some of the criticisms, such as Kendall Langford's, are a little short on substance, but overall it's pretty good. I don't see much negativity here, nor is TFY obligated to praise our draft just because Bill Parcells is involved.

From what I can tell, they like our two guards, called Merling and Henne great picks, think our two RB picks are solid, and have the same concerns about Jake Long that most outside these forums do.

How is that in any way negative?

Not terribly impressed with this write up, made for interesting reading though, thanks for the link.

Why oh why do sports writers say this about Merling:

Phil Merling is a run stopping DE much more so then a explosive pass rushing DE..

Other then that little factoid, not a bad write up, a bit shallow though.

Well not much different than what anyone else has said, although possibly a little less positive. I don't agree with all their points, as they buck what most others have said, as has been pointed out already. Overall, just not a lot of substance to this article, just taking the opposite spin (negativity) as opposed to the upside of each guy...

Yep...tells you alot about the level of research that went into this write up. Had they watched tapes and studied, they'd have known that Merling was the stud run stopping DE of this draft, and while he's a very good pash rusher, it's not his strength. This guy just harvested comments from other scouts/blogs/etc. and threw it out for consumption.

    Right on.

I'm starting to form the picture of Marco Coleman concerning Phil Merling, except Merling is more athletic, Coleman never had Merling's speed or growth potential, but he was a good all around Defensive End who was productive for over a decade.

    I'd be happy with that.
