I have a crap load of add-ons on firefox. My favorites being no script and adblocker, if/when someone make something similar to those for chrome i'll switch over full time.
Lightning fast. Loving that part. Can't wait to dig in further. Check out the bottom right corner of the Quick reply box at the bottom of this thread. Allows you to stretch the box out for those longer posts. Just click and drag. You mean the Boomarks at the bottom? What? They don't have to do anything revolutionary. As long as they have a couple of new features, their own look and something to hang their hat on (it's fast as heck), they've got a shot at making noise. It's Google, after all. They've got the name and exposure. They all duplicate each other's features. It's about the package IMO. I haven't used the browser enough to look into everything it does, so I can't agree or disagree too much on anything. Put it this way, if it ended up being a carbon copy of Firefox 3....only faster, I'd switch. Speed is a feature I like.
Safari has done that for years, even on the Windows port. Google already contributes to Firefox, however. Combined with the Google/Mozilla advertising revenue deal, it makes little sense for Google to release their own browser, unless they wanted to take their user data collection one step further. (In which case, I would prefer not to use the browser simply because I don't enjoy being tracked. I'm just speculating on that, but still.) Not necessarily. Safari offers tight integration with the Apple/iPod ecosystem; Firefox offers an unmatched add-ons system and cross-platform compatibility; Opera offers power user features built-in and a suite of web-related software much like the old Netscape Communicator bundle. Check out the Webkit nightly builds. You'll be pleasantly surprised, particularly with Javascript performance.
I personally love it...im a huge fan of google to begin with, gmail, google calendar ect... right now im using it as my default... its fast and i like that...i cant wait to see what the full version will be like!
My biggest complaint is; Chrome lacks some very important and basic tab-handling features that other browsers have. When you close Firefox, for example, it asks whether you want to save your tabs so that you can reopen them all automatically the next time you launch your browser. Chrome has no such feature. Worse yet, it doesn't even ask if you really want to close your browser, so you may find yourself losing entire browsing sessions. -computerworld.com
Hey Y'all did you happen to take a look a the fine print associated with the google browser? Full Story Here
I am very impressed with it so far. I really like the speed and simplicity. This may be my new browser once out of beta.
I think it's an option you can turn on. I noticed Chrome doesnt have it so I have to worry about accidentally closing my browser. Firefox had the built in safety net when I got stupid lol.
Ouch! So...if you make a post of Thephins.com using Chrome, Google has rights to the content? Somehow I don't think it's completely enforceable due to conflicting copyrights. For example, if I'm posting here using Chrome, I can't see their getting rights to display thephins.com logos and such because I'm viewing thephions.com using their browser.
Thanks man...interesting read. I'm a Firefox guy. IMO it's the perfect browser. It's fast and has all the features I want...
