Sums the situation up fairly well.

    -too many missed draft picks
-too many failed free agent signings

    -good hidden gem finding
-return to decency but not greatness

To me, this last 6 games are probably the most important in Sparano's time in Miami, the Oline Coach has Oline problems, but also has time to work out solutions how we come out of this mini bye week will pretty much tell the story of Sparano's time in Miami.

It's a pretty stupid article if you ask me. Almost every one of the subjects is worthy of debate.

    2. Instant credibility? WTF is that? More importantly, who gives a crap?

    3. Quarterback depth? If that's what you call three mediocre quarterbacks I guess we have "depth". That's going to get us an 8-8 record. Pretty good is you consider 1-15 NOT to be an anomoly.

    4. Young roster.... Well he hit the nail on the head by designating the team YOUNG. You can't help but get that right though. People do not age any quicker than the calendar year.

This is where I take issue.......

    1. Wasted draft picks? He cites three in three years. How is this for a comparison? 6 players of the every previous draft remain on this team. What would that make the previous decade? A debacle? And you find fault with THREE misses?

    2. Well damn! If you gave me the 2007 crap roster, I would scour the bushes looking for players too. I really do not understand the "spending the owners money" routine. The only gain ever seen in the NFL owners manual is when the team is SOLD. You do not get into this to MAKE money any other way.

    3. Jason Taylor a bad move? I don't think so. His time has past. Cameron Wake has doubled his production playing the same position. Mistake? The mistake is not being able to let go of the past.
Matt Roth and David Martin? WTF? That's the downfall of this team?

    4. Okay wait a minute..... Did anyone else catch this? Jake Grove is a free agent flop (#2) but his release is part of the issue with the running game.

    5. Well hell fire..... If they had NOT signed Ronnie to a tender you would have hated them. If they had NOT signed Ricky as a temporary patch, you would have hated on them. WTF do you want? Fact is that EVERYONE watching has known that this is Ronnie Brown's last year as a member of the Dolphins.

In year four of Chris Chambers career we were still reading that he was going to blow up the stat chart. Brian Hartline is the Z and is the Dolphins speed at the receiver position. Yet we will not give him two years to develop. As a matter of fact, when mentioning team speed we don't even mention his name.

Puff, puff, pass Omar.............Puff, puff, pass............

This article is nothing but a click generator.

Well Zod, I agree with you on Jason Taylor, he has dropped off of the map in NJ, Pace came back and Taylor has slid down into being one of the worst 10 passrushing OLB's in the NFL in terms of snaps played equaling pressure on the Qb.

While Omar does make some decent points, he really stretches on others. Like Zod mentioned, the draft pick issue is one of them. Yes, they blew 2nd and 3rd round draft choices last year and deserve criticism for it. But it was also Parcells that fleeced the Redskins by trading Jason Taylor to them for a 2nd and 6th, which probably allowed them the shot at taking the ill-advised chance on White. That Murphy, a 4th round pick, didn't work out is unfortunate but a stretch considering the success rate of 4th rounders.

As for getting rid of Taylor, Martin and Roth, can you really argue that any one except Roth was a mistake? Taylor is at the end of his career, and to keep a player with declining skills on your roster for fear he may go to a division rival is not good business. As for Martin, numerous reports have claimed he just isn't the player he used to be, and he really hasn't proved otherwise.

There's no doubt this front office has made their mistakes. But they've also had their successes. The problem is that the fans want something now, and aren't getting it. There have been too many pit stops on the way to their destination, many of their own doing, but it doesn't mean they won't get there. I don't think being behind their time-table is a fatal crime in an industry where scouting and personnel decisions have always proven to be an inexact science. But at the same time, there's a line where it becomes inexcusable for a team with such aspirations. My guess is that Sparano & Co. get one more season to get it right, and I don't think it's unrealistic to be given that opportunity nor do I think it's unrealistic to expect them to succeed with that opportunity given them.

My number is five and this crew has proven worthy of that number. Five years and if you are not taking the division crown, your message gets stale. I don't care what the situation may be. Give it five years and then the owner/management should have an exit strategy for year six.

Though I don't have a number in mind, I do feel that it is too soon to start ripping everything up again. I don't think we would feel quite so badly about this season if not for all the injuries on the roster right now. And remember, last season at the end we were full of injuries as well. That was not the case in 2008 when we stayed pretty much injury free.

Five years is a lot .

For me , I only go forward with the people I feel are the answer. If there is substantial doubt , where we are currently doesn't warrant anymore years if there is that doubt , imo.

Three years in the NFL is a term , if you don't have faith that undoubtedly you will be a final four team in 2 years you make organization changes .

I like Tony a lot in some ways , he needs to get the oline situation corrected to a strong positive , be responsible for a updated , efficient , productive offense next year from the get go and through the entire season if he stays.

If Ireland stays , he needs to add at least one real playmaker , one on each side of the ball would be better Jeff. Signing MCD , Soliai , and Wake is also needed. Wake isn't a doubt , I have a bad feeling we loose MCD. He has stepped up big time and has the ability to continue that. Money talks , players listen Jeff.

Not saying they should go , maybe they do , maybe they don't. If they don't get you to where you can win at least one playoff game , you made a mistake keeping them . It isn't going to be an easy decision , in the end I think they both stay , Henning HAS to be gone and will be .

I think the points are good in the article , how they were reviewed wasn't done as well as it should have been ( no surprise ) .

High percentage of non or low contributors from high draft picks , too high , FA acquisitions that produced so below what the cost/option would be . No team is right all or almost all the time , but the report card in those areas for Miami doesn't grade out as a bonafide playoff team, and is being proven on the field.

Hate it being next year country , but it is.

I agree the dropoff is obvious BUT it sure would be nice to have a defensive lineman or LB who could:

    - catch a short pass lobbed into their hands on a screen attempt and run it in for six points or
    - pick up a strip sack fumble rather than kicking it to the offensive lineman.

I don't think it would have hurt to have a player who would have basically been a reserve who possesses his on the field awareness. But that's ancient history now anyway so who cares.

while i absolutely buy into the Wolf/Parcells philosophy of drafting .... the philosophy falls short on speed, and it shows on this team -- most noteably amongst the LBs ... the other area that lacks athleticism is along the OL .... our current cast has a very limited ability to pull among other issues -- having a beefy OL has its merits, but we can't be that one dimensional. Don't get me wrong, i never liked the JJ philosophy of speed over size -- which was why we could always be pushed around .... i want the coveted size AND speed.

yeah so we can start playing teams without winning records and start to feel good about ourselves and possible save sparano's job? Blahhh it's over I honestly hope we tank and YES I am a fan it serves no purpose for this team to go on a 5 game win streak. We need a better draft pick, and for Ross to be pressured into knocking some heads. I don't want to see this team go forward with this staff. We need to rebuild once again.

I agree with Zod, this article is nothing but garbage. A quick list of some facts, with zero perspective, all to support a supremely stale narrative and serve as a postmortem on the season. Three straight ineffective drafts he says. Too many FA flops he says. I'm confused, how did we go from 1-15 with an old talentless roster to a young & "respectable" 23-19 team then?

I wish we had some beat writers who weren't afraid to eschew sensationalism in exchange for coherent thought.
