MRI came back clean ! No damage to knee ligaments, just a severe sprain and hyper-extended. Doctor told me it should be 3 weeks to a month of resting the leg and I should be back to normal. Whew ! Thanks everyone for the prayers, thoughts and PM's.
Great news to here PMZQ. I was not so fortunate Dec. 3, 2006. I was reeling, aka hammered off my @$$, from the Fins losing to the Jags and hearing it from all my Jag friends in J-ville. I had an intra-mural flag football game that night. It was raining in Jacksonville. My cleat bottom was beginning to tear off but because I was so lazy, I just used a shoe string to hold it together (hey, it worked all year and I was a damn fine player). Then it happened...going on an out cut and going for the ball my football slips and I just felt my knee go. I remember being on the ground saying, please God let it just be a hyper-extension. Then my next though, my dad is going to beat the ****e out of me. I got up, immediately collapsed, I felt me knee move in places it shouldn't. The trainer was checking my knee out and was doing some things to check my ACL. She said I think your ACL might be OK. Then she checked my hamstring because I told her there was pain EVERYWHERE. She checked it, said, hmmmm, that's funny. I said what. She goes, well I don't feel any of your hamstring, all I feel is your femur! After my MRI. I blew out my ACL, PCL, LCL, Hamstring, and Popliteaus Muscle...but NO meniscus or cartilage!! How crazy is that? Needless to say the rehab sucked. Which is why you're so lucky. Good luck with the rehab. Best advice I can give you, which Den54 gave to me, when they tell you that you're done with your rehab (no more rehab at that facility) make sure you continue doing your excercises at home. I still have disgusting atrophy of my quad.
Excellent news, PMZQ. Now, take that doc's advice and rest it for that long, even when it's feeling better.
Bro that was terrible. Man do I feel lucky.....luckily I have friends that can help me with the rehab, and feel just blessed that its not that serious. Its still very sore, and I have bruises but that is all. That hammy injury must have taken over a year to get over. Its only 2nd to an achilles heel I think in nastiness.
Exactly. Sometimes knee problems can linger for a very long time. Mine still hasn't fully recovered and it's been almost 8 years.
Definitely take that rehab serious and give the leg rest. It's been almost two years now, and I like I said I still still have pretty nasty atrophy of my quad and calf. My hamstring is still weak along with my quad. My calf is pretty strong again. Everyon always asks me about the pain, but I didn't even think of the pain, I was just in pure shock because I knew that not only did I hurt it, but I really really screwed it up good.
Man that is something else. Two years and you are still in pain ? That has to stink. How do these athletes make it back in a year, and sometimes even stronger ? Are they just "different" than most of us ? Is it a genetics thing ?
8 years !?!?!?!? Dude, that is awful bro. Can you walk normally or did it cause a limp ? Do you have pain all the time ? Now I am a bit scared as to how this all may turn out.
Yes sir ! Will do ! I just hope I have a full recovery. I am still upset at my brothers Regan and RD not having full recoveries.
glad to hear it bro. at least now you won't have to sit on a sled while your collie, or whatever, pulls you
That has to be music to luckys ears I'll bet he's gonna be all fired up and ready to go. j/k glad it's all good.
