Oh God. Not this again. This argument is seriously so flawed. I would say I've never seen less than a 6,7:1 ration of Dolphin/Opposing fans in the stadium. If it seems that way on a television, it's because all the Dolphin fans are getting nice and drunk at their tailgates or at the bar...to soften the blow of the BIG chance we'll be losing by the half. Put a better team on the field and none of "this" happens! Just sayin'!

Not when the Miami Dolphins are winning and considered to be better than the Steelers. Thats a fact man. When teams suck, as the Dolphins have, for 10 seasons, the fans are less interested in talking smack or yelling at the plays because they know it's probably going to bite them in the ***.

Take a look at the game in NE this year. Miami was up 17 points and that crowd was as quiet as any Dolphins game I've ever seen. The when NE came close to tying the game in the 2nd half, the crowd woke right up. Its the nature of the beast. When our teams are really good, fans are more proud, and more apt to let everyone know about it. When teams suck the fans tuck their gear in their closets, take off their hats, and run from the stadiums.

Back in the 70's. 80's and 90's the Pats were hardly a consistant team. Their attendance was bad. Then came Tom Brady and now there is a waiting list in a new stadium that holds far less fans than JRS.

When the Bills sucked which was pretty much forever until the 90's their stadium was half empty nearly every week. Then came Thurman, Kelly, and Smith. They set NFL records for attendance because their stadium can hold more than almost every stadium in the NFL.

Fans screaming at games is an experience. Sure it is but the affect is on the opponent FAR more than anything. It's so their offenses cannot hear the calls. When the home teams offense is on the field, it's as quiet as a morgue. The screaming comes after big plays and at JRS it is still pretty loud when the offense makes a great play so the players are not affected by much, if at all, on offense.

When I was 17, I was a pro skater and I can tell you that when the crowd screamed and yelled, it amped us up but more often than not, one of us would try to go higher or make tricks just a bit more spectacular and it almost always ended up with one of us hanging up his trucks, or missing his trick. Lots of injuries came from being TOO amped up. I got to the point where, I would set up my routine to have a trick that would have the crowd screaming followed by a much easier set up trick for the next spectacular one. The crowd would be silent by the time the next big trick came up. Once I started lining my routines up like this, I started placing in contests. Funny thing was that everyone else was doing the same things.

I'm the opposite. The louder I crank it, the better...... especially certain types of music.

Some Eminem songs get me a little pumped up while both positively heightening my emotional state and standing up every hair on end b/c of that sudden heightened state (which is completely different than the goosebumps elicited by Mariah Carey's voice or like thereof).

High octane techno stuff (like Scooter "I like it loud") energizes me to the point of feeling like I have to run around the house or smash on the gas pedal to release some of the energy. Songs like that leave me feeling nearly invincible (especially with crystal clear music and the bass tightly thumping for both, which is why I'll spend a lot of money on home & car audio)

11,000,000 Youtube hits for the first song, mainly b/c Scooter's music is adrenaline & endorphin producing.

Edit: that was the wrong song version.

String, maybe this is simply b/c not enough rocks have been turned over.
Just b/c the current "data" suggests the only affect is on the officials doesn't mean that "all" the data has been collected.

If we really want to get to the skinny of it, shouldn't we hard wire teams during their home games?

Maybe Riddell's HITS can expand its technology even further by using their helmet sensors & wireless data to measure processes & activities associated with adrenaline, endorphins, excitability, etc during the entire 60 minutes of a game while other stadium sensors simultaneously measure crowd noise on as many different levels of sound possible- pitch, tone, etc. Then overlap the findings and see if there appears to be any causal effect?
