If you could go back in time and see a band play, (1) Who would it be, (2) where; and (3) what year? My top picks: 1. The Beatles, 1964 at the Cavern Club in Liverpool. 2. The Rolling Stones, 1973, Madison Square Garden. 3. Neil Young, 1974, any date on the Tonight's the Night Tour. 4. Jimi Hendrix, 1967, Saville Theatre. 5. Bruce Springsteen, 1975, Hammersmith Odeon. 6. Nirvana, any of the dates they played just before the release of Nevermind. 7. My Bloody Valentine on the Loveless tour (1991?)
i dont know the exact locations but 1. the jimi hendrix experience 2. john coltrane 3. the tour with guns n roses and metallica that erupted in 2 riots 4. monsters of metal tour I thik it was called in russia. 5. stevie ray vaughn el paso texas.
Alice in Chains - Dirt tour at the 86th Street Music club in Vancouver. Layne did the gig from a wheel chair and crutches (broken leg) but I could not go because of a very unfortunate situation (I was VERY close to being homeless at the time, worst 3 month period in my life). They are the only band I've ever wanted to see live that I never got the chance to see. Everytime they played in Vancouver something really crappy was happening in my life that made it impossible to see them.
I saw them on that tour. In a 500 person club in Ft. Lauderdale called the Edge. Actually, he broke his foot (I know, cause I bought a t-shirt with an x-ray of his foot with pins and screws inserted). They were amazing that night. He performed in a protective boot and stood with a cane.
You wanted to see them on the "...And Justice For All" tour for sure. It was the last time they toured and played their songs with real passion and hunger. When I saw them on that tour it was one of the better shows I've seen. I saw them on back to back nights for the "Black album" tour and, while it had highlights, it did not come close to the Justice show.
Led Zeppelin - Anywhere during the Physical Graffiti tour. In their prime after they'd robbed so many blues artists of their licks and lyrics Van Halen - 1976 at Gazzari's any night of the week. Rolling Stones - 1969 'Let it Bleed' tour. Probably anyplace but the Altamont show. Buddy Holly at the Surf Ballroom- Clearlake, Iowa - February 2nd, 1959
Damn...forgot about that one. Probably the greatest set in the history of live shows. Just to be there for "Radio Ga Ga". Even watching it on a DVD gives you chills.
These kind of performances are what I wish I was 24 and see: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAbr5i3Mvfw"]YouTube - Metallica Enter Sandman[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hN1jo_z8dKs"]YouTube - Creeping Death - Metallica[/ame]

The only bands I havent had a chance to see that I wanted to are Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, and Guns N Roses. As far as specific dates or locations I really dont have any specific show except for Hendrix; his rendition of Red House at the San Diego Sports Arena on may 25th 1969 was epic.
1.polka tulk anywhere's they played in germany because i've never seen them and they became my alltime fav band. 2.the pixies in new orleans. i've never seen them either and was supposed to there for the lallapalooza. kurt cobain supposedly shot himself days prior and they(which was the right thing to do i guess)cancelled the show. 3.alice in chains at the mtv unplugged show.i got to see them once in new orleans(in his wheelchair) and it was one of the best shows i have seen and they are giving black sabbath a run for #1.
