Gears 2 had, imo, the best video game commercial ever. Maybe best commercial ever, period. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FL_ZjJgbDmc"]YouTube- Gears of War 2: Last Day (Game Trailer)[/ame]
Anybody been lucky enough to play Gears 3 on Beta? Now that I've got a new Xbox and new Xbox live 1 year subscription on the way, I'm starting to get excited about this. Till then I'll keep myself busy by playing 1 and 2 again, including some multiplayer.
If the beta is still going on I may be able to give you a key. I bought Bulletstorm and a beta key comes with that. Not sure if you have to access the beta through bulletstorm though, because if you did then having the key probably wouldn't matter.
I think it ends in 3 days and I'll be gone this weekend but appreciate the offer, Stitches. I was just kind of wondering what to expect.
If all goes well with Amazon, should be at my front door when I get home from work. Pretty excited. It's been a long wait.
Bought it at midnight on Monday night. Loving it so far, about halfway through Act3 on Hardcore just now, the campaign feels way longer than 1 and 2. Only had about 20 minutes on Team Deathmatch getting my *** handed to me by 12 year olds with far better hand to eye co-ordination than me. I didn't buy it for the online though, I am more interested in the campaign.
First impression - I like it. I'm not very far into the campaign, but it's the same Gears we know and love. Problem - It's the same Gears. No noticeable improvements in game play or looks from the game that came out in 2006? Or was it 2005? I was expecting more since half a decade has passed since the first game. Multiplayer still seems slow and clumsy compared to other games but it's fun for ****s and giggles. Was getting lambasted by mortars in every match and could not figure out for the life of me how the other team was getting them.
Am I the only one playing this game? I didn't do online play for part II, so I don't know how that was, but I'm loving the horde mode in this game. Beast mode was fun for ****s and giggles but seemed way to easy to finish. CoD, take notes. This is what a campaign is supposed to be. A plot you can follow, a storyline and characters you care about, and you actually look forward to the cut scenes because you're interested in what happens next.
I'm not sure how you can say that it is anything at all like the previous 2 games in the trilogy. The gameplay is unbelievably different. There was so much lag in those games that made it unbearable at times. I've never yelled at my tv more than when I played Gears 2. (and that's coming from a Dolphins fan) Gears 3 has introduced new weapons, new characters, more game modes, totally improved Horde mode, 4 person co-op now. And there is absolutely no lag whatsoever when playing online now with dedicated servers. I just think your comments are WAY off base.
This is nothing different than the first 2 games in the series. The Gears of War series is the standard in the shooter genre IMO just for that reason. They have always had a VERY good campaign (campaign not too short, complex, great cut scenes with epic boss battles, and a great storyline) along with having fantastic multiplayer options. Gears 3 is no different.
Easy killer. It's called an opinion. I only played the campaign in part 2 and to me, the campaign and gameplay is very similar. I love the new weapons and the game. I think you're way too fired up about what I said considering we both seem to like the game.
I'm not fired up. I just completely disagree with what you said, namely this part: To say that multiplayer was just for ****s and giggles for a game that had over 2 million users online last night is a little inaccurate.
so, anyway.... CT 1334 is my GT (my normal account Hostile6) does not have gold atm. Add me and lets play!
I just got this game. I am really enjoying it. The campaign is entertaining to say the least and the online play is smooth. I didn't own GOW2, but did have GOW1. This really is a lot of fun!
