Gotta go with Buckeyeking on this one, making internet bets is a risky proposition, and Adamprez was vague on several key points.. Besides, like OhioBryan, better to ween him now lest he sulk..
NIT isn't a championship. It's just a congratulations for being the 65th (or 66th if you include the play-in game loser) best team in the nation.
Were officially the best team not to make the big tourny. A championship is a championship. I still would have brought up if they won the National Bingo championship. Its Adams fault for not specifying.
waaaay to thin... your buckeye brothers are ashamed that you are calling the nit a championship.. I mean, I could see this if you were sayyyyy meeeshigan, I mean THEY are desparate, but cmon bro.. Adam would be foolish to pull down his sig because osu didn't make the cut..
Winning a tournament doesn't equal winning a championship. There is only one championship winner in Men's College Basketball. Once, every couple decades, a truly great championship team emerges, and then repeats
Congrats Davidson, St Marys, Miami, Western Kentucky, Belmont and Siena are better than OSU.....That sig should definatley NOT come down
Im sure Ohio State wouldve beat a few of those teams.....but you know "automatic bids" make the tourny funner, so Ill live with the NIT title.
And they all went home without a Championship... Put it another way, look at all the teams that are sitting at home proud that they didn't win a darn thing except "we made it to the sweet 16" that's nice, do you get a banner in the rafters for that? Nope...losers....
a win is a win, and Ohio State isn't going home losers this season, unlike every other team except 1.
Didn't I say Adam didn't specify?? Fact remains is we won the NIT Championship and are officially the best team not to make the tourny.
buckeye fans the world over are embarrased.... bragging about losing and calling it a championship.. yikes
What do you call a team that wins the NIT? Champions. What do you call a team that loses in the elite 8? Losers. IMO, the NIT is short sheeted because there is so much at stake financially in the NCAA Tourney, that is literally a 2 Billion dollar a year enterprise.
Its better for this team to WIN the NIT then possibly lose first round of the NCAA. Experienced is gained for the younger guys on the team. Stop turning this into a negative thing.
You may be right, but I guarantee you theres not a single guy on that team that wouldnt rather have made the NCAA tourney.
the "negative" thing is you try to bamboozel Adam by implying that LOSING somehow made you a recognized champion of something.. shame on you Majah, creating a THREAD, just to shyster someone.
I think you're missing the point. Do you think Ohio St. would rather have played in the National Championship game and lost to LSU, or destroyed McNeese St. in the Micron PC Bowl?
Actually folks, due to the structure of the NCAA and how lower tier teams are automatically in, I have to agree with him here...and I dont care for OSU 1 Iota. I garuantee that the 10 best teams in the NIT are better than the 20 worst teams in the NCAA And anything to get those flaming letters off my computer is a win/win situation.
If the Micron PC Bowl put them at #1 in the AP poll, don't be so certain... Football doesn't rack as well with this one, there are two "Championships" to be won in College football, but that is more a fluke, for a team to win in one poll and lose in another. Ending the season with a win and a Title is much better then looking good and losing in the NCAA, no one remembers the team that lost in the 2nd round...unless it is Duke...
Your right but we didn't take care of some teams in the regular season. but we accepted the NIT tourny and won it. I like to see my team go out on a high note, its good for the team. People can keep looking at the negative aspect of this but thats okay.
I can agree with that. Shussh, don't blow it now, Matt Ryan flamming needs to be stopped...by any means neccessary....if it takes the NIT...so be it...
Let me ask you this Sir, who won the NIT last year? Nuff Said. (If you looked it up thats sad, if you knew without looking thats pathetic)
I agree with your views on the matter. I cant say I wouldnt want my team to win that tourney had they not made the NCAA. But for some to say those players would rather win that than make the tourney and lose the first game is ludicrous IMO. Players dont start the season with the goal "Hey, lets go out an win the NIT this year!" It's a nice consolation prize, nothing more.
Let me think here for a moment...NCAA...ACC..no..SEC..no..Big East...I think Syracuse won the NIT... I have no idea who won the NCAA last year, I am pretty sure OSU lost the game but I don't recall who won it, I think they were fromthe Southwest, but other then that.....????? BTW XX..you misspelled "pathetic"...
Seriously, , even with your hints...I DONT REMEMBER.. Was it the Longhorns? And there is ZERO chance I remember that OSU lost it...
